Just an hour ago, Hans had received word that Elizabeth, who usually showed no interest in me, was looking for me.
“From the second madam?”
Until then, the lady who usually sought him was Sophia. Her main question was whether he had laid a hand on Edith, and Hans would answer that he was diligently following orders due to fear of Walter’s threats, thus laying her suspicions to rest.
‘Could it be that Madam Elizabeth called me because she thinks I’m close to Madam Sophia?’
Without any sense of his own significance, Hans fearfully went to her room.
However, Elizabeth welcomed him with an unexpectedly mild manner.
“Do you happen to know much about Walter, the stablekeeper? I’m considering directly managing the servants now that Sophia is gone.”
Elizabeth asked as she brushed her red hair aside. She couldn’t pose deep questions to the servants about killing Walter, as that would give the wrong impression.
Hans stared at her as if bewitched and sank into thought for a moment.
‘She seems suspicious for some reason.’
In the end, Hans could only answer that he had never had a proper conversation with Walter. He had heard rumors that Walter had left the estate, but he couldn’t be certain.
‘I remember he would disappear for days at a time to practice swordsmanship.’
If Walter was still on the estate and Hans spoke too freely to Elizabeth, there was no way he’d let it slide. His rebellious spirit shriveled up instantly, still remembering the foot that had trampled on his hand before.
“All I know is that he’s the stablekeeper that my lord brought in. He’s rather irritable and doesn’t have friends.”
“He used to be close to someone named Cassius, but he escaped last night.”
“I’m sorry, but I don’t know. He was always so irritable that he didn’t have any friends.”
Upon hearing Hans’s answer, Elizabeth looked at him for a moment and hummed.
‘I called him because he had more interaction with Walter than other servants.’
She had already called several servants who might know something about Walter but had gained no information.
“I see? You may go. If anything about the stablekeeper comes to mind, come to me.”
Elizabeth sent him away with an indifferent face. Hans, who wasn’t the quickest thinker, left the room with thoughts swirling.
‘Did Walter really leave the estate?’
As Elizabeth had discovered, Hans was rather interested in Walter. He was envious of Walter, who always strutted around looking down on people with a proud air.
‘If Walter really left the estate, there would be no one to stand in my way.’
Hans’s ego inflated rapidly. Soon after, he found Vivian looking up at him from the first floor.
“Vivian, what’s the matter?”
“……”
Vivian hesitated. Clearly, Edith had told her to fetch Hans, but that was before she knew he had been speaking privately with Elizabeth.
‘What if they’re conspiring to trick or harm the madam?’
“I was just about to go rest in my quarters.”
Vivian decided it would be best to leave and confirm the situation with Edith.
However, while she was logically considering this, Hans’s inflated ego had reached its peak.
‘Could it be that Walter really left the estate? After all, Madam Elizabeth is looking for me and Cassius has disappeared.’
Hans was certain he was the only one who knew about the clandestine meetings between Edith and Walter.
Since Walter was extremely meticulous and left no evidence, he was sure that if he leveraged what he knew about the affair between the madam and the stablekeeper, he could make a lot of money.
“Vivian. Good to see you. I’d like to have a cup of tea with Lady Edith, if that’s alright.”
“Tea with the Lady?”
Vivian swallowed hard. For a servant like him to audaciously say he’d ‘treat’ a noble lady to tea indicated that he was leveraging some weakness to gain an advantage.
‘What should I do…’
Could he really take Hans to Lady Edith without Walter around? Vivian hesitated for a long while, but under Hans’s insistence, he couldn’t avoid it.
“Lady Edith. Hans has requested to see you.”
“Come in.”
Vivian entered Edith’s room along with Hans. He did this to prepare in case Hans had malicious intentions.
“It’s been a long time, Lady Edith.”
Hans looked at Edith with a smile.
“Welcome, Hans. I felt bad that I hadn’t had the chance to thank you for all you’ve done.”
Edith had already prepared tea and cookies before he even spoke. Seeing her trembling eyes, Hans felt certain.
‘Walter has really left.’
Now that Walter was gone and there was no one to threaten him, it seemed like Edith was serving tea just to keep her secret affair hidden.
Hans smirked and enjoyed the tea and cookies Edith offered. The luxurious taste he’d never experienced before fueled his ambitions even more.
Edith gave him enough time to enjoy his refreshments before speaking.
“I have a favor to ask you.”
At her words, Hans was elated. He assumed she was trying to keep her relationship with Walter a secret. His voice naturally became stronger.
“I can guess. You’re probably worried that, with Walter not in the mansion, I might reveal your secret affair.”

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
