Astra possessed the authority of judgment as the Libra Palace, one aspect of which was binding any being he designated as a ‘prisoner’ in chains and imprisoning them within the underground labyrinth.

Deva had exploited Ethan’s moment of weakness to transfer his power to Astra.

Within the underground labyrinth, Ethan nurtured his strength bit by bit, awaiting only the day of his revenge.

Of course, in that place nearly devoid of life, Ethan never got proper sleep to consume. The only thing resembling sustenance was the ‘Executor,’ a Minotaur that appeared every seven days.

However, because his entire body was bound in chains, Ethan couldn’t fully subdue or incapacitate the creature, so he had to risk his life just to absorb tiny amounts. Even when he managed, with great difficulty, to consume a little sleep this way, if he himself fell into a deep slumber, his power would leak away completely—leaving him utterly empty.

The chains binding Ethan could only be undone by a Zodiac, so although he couldn’t ask them to release him, these humans occasionally fell asleep even within the labyrinth, and that sleep inevitably became Ethan’s nourishment.

Sadly, however, the underground labyrinth was far from a hospitable place for humans.

Most humans trapped here either died or went mad from monster attacks. Even the rare few who lasted slightly longer inevitably met their end at the hands of the Executor Minotaur on the seventh day.

They were all utterly useless.
