The son of the wolf and South Korea’s sixth Srank Hunter ‘Baekrang’ was a famous figure, but ironically, Siwoo was not famous.
He was wellknown for being the only son of the wolf’s master, Shingwihoon, but no personal information such as his face was known.
So, aside from Siwoo recognizing Minjoo, Minjoo could never recognize Siwoo by his face alone.
“Looking at how you saw through my trick, you seem to be of a somewhat usable rank. What’s your affiliation?”
But Minjoo seemed to have long ago noticed that Siwoo was an Awakener, a Hunter.
Clink clink…….
The table faintly shook. A cheeky kid was shaking his leg.
Siwoo let out a small dry laugh at the changed attitude, as if changing a mask, that was quite different from when dealing with Eunha. It wasn’t particularly surprising.
“I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to be praised for seeing through such a shallow trick.”
“What. The condition of the active Hunters these days is downright insane. That much deserves some praise.”
The trickster resumed his paper folding, moving his paused fingers this way and that. His small hands were quite spirited. Without even looking this way, the trickster licked his thick lips.
“I asked if you had any business, didn’t I? It’s not that, I’m just interested in someone with the same hobby. It’s natural, isn’t it?”
“The same hobby?”
Siwoo narrowed his brows slightly. As far as Siwoo knew, Eunha’s hobbies included watching 90’s music special reruns and classic movies.
‘This brash young kid has such hobbies?’
He couldn’t believe it. Therefore, he judged. The kid was lying right now.
“I’ll say one thing for sure.”
With a flat, unemotional voice, a strange atmosphere flowed between the two.
“It would be best not to approach her more than necessary.”
Sssss─
A white frost settled on the water glass in front of him. As if winter had come to that place alone, the chilly, cooled air was biting.
“Is that a warning? Or a threat?”
The trickster laughed as if amused, tapping the frozen cup. Completely unshaken.
“You know who I am, right?”
“I know. But why?”
“You’re very confident against the Legion. Hyung, are you by any chance a wolf?”
“Well, should I answer that?”
As Siwoo parried, the smile that had been on the trickster’s lips vanished like smoke. A chill silence like a cold spell wrapped around the two again.
Tap, tap.
The sound of small fingernails hitting the ice cup was unusually loud.
“Ah, I see.”
The gaze that had been rolling around in the air finally landed on the man opposite. The trickster’s round eyes curved like a crescent moon.
“Judging by the way you’re talking, Hyung, you seem to have quite a deep relationship with that noona?”
Deep relationship.
Could he really describe his relationship with her as deep?
The answer was clear. He and she were simply tied by a contract; nothing more, nothing less.
But for some reason, he didn’t want to say that simple fact out loud. Especially not to this cheeky brat in front of him.
“Then?”
With a casually spat answer, the boy’s cute lips curled as if they had been waiting.
“Actually, that noona, she stole a gate that our Legion won at auction.”
“……What?”
A faint crack appeared on Siwoo’s previously unshaken face.
Did I hear wrong just now?
The gate… what was that?
Detecting his reaction, the trickster spoke with a playful smile.
“You’re a Hunter, aren’t you? Then you know well. If a stealer appears in a won gate, the respective guild has the right to detain and punish the stealer, and the Association cannot interfere.”
“Don’t make a joke.”
Siwoo opened his eyes and spoke without a tremor.
“She’s not the type to do something like stealing.”
Yes, he was somewhat surprised by the talk of the gate being taken, but that was the correct answer.
Siwoo had not a shred of trust in the trickster he had met for the first time today. It was the right judgment to trust his senior rather than believe in this cheeky kid.
“Check it yourself. It’s in your sister’s right front pocket. My Gate Core.”
But the Trickster’s attitude was oddly confident. Almost unbelievably so.
Of course, if everything said so far was true, it’s quite an annoying problem.
As the Trickster said, stealing an auctioned Gate is considered a highlevel crime in the hunter community.
During Eunha’s time, there would have been no system to auction or bid on Gates, so she wouldn’t know. If such a thing had really happened, it would be his fault for not explaining it in detail.
But.
“I don’t care.”
Xiwoo lifted his chin with a nonchalant look.
“Just compensate for the Gate Core, and that’s it?”
Call as much as you want. He wished for him to take it and leave.
“No.”
But the Trickster grinned, baring his canine, and laughed ominously.
“How could you put a price on the crime of stealing the Legion’s Gate?”
“……So? What do you want exactly?”
“There’s just one thing I want.”
The Trickster, shrugging his shoulders slightly, continued to speak.
“I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t care.”
“……What?”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
