“With skills that outdo the combat power of current Sclass hunters, a survivor of the unknown gate. If your existence becomes known to the media, it will probably become a major issue nationwide.”
Gates, and monsters.
Humanity’s scientific power couldn’t reveal their essence and cause.
Especially in the case of the unknown gate, as the name suggests, it was a place shrouded in mystery. Unlike other gates, there were no consistent strategies or rules, and there were no specific difficulties or appearance areas.
Eunha’s existence, having survived in the unknown gate for 30 years, would be extremely appealing to gate researchers.
“What are you thinking of doing now?”
“I’m not sure.”
Though Eunha herself had accepted reality, it was still a reality that felt less real than a dream. The world Eunha knew, Seoul, was now gone.
Looking at Eunha, who was sitting in her place like an empty doll, Siwoo cautiously opened his mouth.
“If it’s okay with you, can I make a suggestion?”

“……A suggestion?”
“Yes. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while.”
Siwoo looked at Eunha, who appeared weary, and stood up from his seat.
“For now, it might be best to rest a little more. Whenever you feel like hearing my story, just let me know.”
Though he wanted to grab her ankle and plead with her right now, understanding and empathizing with her situation, having come out into the world 30 years later, should come first.
“If you need anything, you can call someone anytime.”
Thunk.
Left alone in the empty room, Eunha habitually touched her left wrist. The touch of her wornout wish bracelet always magically comforted her.
They say ten years change the landscape, so thirty years meant the landscape changed three times.
Left alone in the room, Eunha closed her eyes in silence. The world had changed, and the environment surrounding her had changed. It was a sensation like she was dreaming a vivid dream.

Eunha’s familiar neighborhood was gone,
People Eunha knew were gone,
And the Eunha she knew was gone.
So what should she do in this place, in modern 2031?
What should she live for, how should she live, and what dreams should she have?
She once faced such a dilemma.
It was probably around her second year of high school. Before submitting a ‘career aspiration form’ to her homeroom teacher, Eunha showed it to her mother.
‘Eunha, you….’
Her mother, having checked the career aspiration form, looked at Eunha with a surprised face.
‘Mom, I don’t want to go to college. I just want to get a job somewhere and earn money.’

‘You don’t need to. Eunha, your mom’s not so tired that you have to give up college.’
‘Mom, still─.’
‘Listen well. Your mom says, Eunha, I want you to live your life.’
Yes, that’s what her mother said. Eunha walked endlessly on the waves of memory that were gradually clearing off the dust and becoming vivid.
‘What’s my life?’
She seemed to have asked that.
And her mother, she probably smiled. Without any answer, she just stroked her head, sat next to Eunha, and looked at the career aspiration form together, holding a pen.
‘We’ll find out together.’
Lies.
The mother who told her that suddenly left Eunha’s side one day.

And until now, Eunha has not found what her mother called ‘my life.’
Even if it was a problem she hadn’t thought about so far, the life that followed the awakening and forced conscription, being a hunter, felt like it wasn’t her life.
Eunha, who slowly lifted her closed eyelids, fumbled in her bosom and pulled out two crumpled bills.
Eunha had a habit of carrying money in her bosom from the past. Due to the nature of her job as a hunter, she couldn’t carry a wallet around.
During the battle within the gate, most of it was spilled somewhere, and what was left were only two pieces.
Eun Ha carefully spread out the face of philosopher Yi Hwang drawn on the banknote with her palm.
‘2000 won is enough.’
It will be enough with the basic fare since it’s the same neighborhood. Eun Ha, who got out of bed on a whim, hurried out of the room.
Siwoo’s house was incredibly spacious, enough to befit the word mansion. After a long attempt, Eun Ha was finally able to find the entrance.
As she was about to leave the entrance, Eun Ha hesitated for a moment. A fulllength mirror located by the shoe rack reflected her entire figure.
──It’s black. And very much so.

Eun Ha quickly turned around. She saw employees wandering around the mansion.
‘……Should I ask to borrow clothes?’
She thought so for a moment, but then shook her head. It would be a nuisance to go that far. She had already received much grace in this house.
After a long contemplation, Eun Ha finally grabbed the doorknob.
‘Just take a taxi.’
That would be better. Eun Ha quietly slipped out of the mansion.
Outside was a quiet residential area. Unlike where Eun Ha used to live, the landscape was neatly arranged, enough to tell at a glance that it was a wealthy area.
She crossed the treelined street and came out onto the main road. The landscape, familiar yet unfamiliar, welcomed Eun Ha.
Siwoo’s house was in Banhadong, Seoul.
It was where Eun Ha had lived until she was nineteen. She had attended elementary school, middle school, and high school here. The landscape had changed a lot, but she could tell that the house where she had originally lived was near here.

A house where she had lived for over ten years with her mother after her parents’ divorce.
Though it was actually a walkable distance, Eun Ha decided to take a taxi as she had determined earlier. It would be just the basic fare, and she had enough money in hand.
She waved her hand on the street, and soon a taxi stopped.
“28714 address, please.”
Eun Ha, who had climbed into the back seat, briefly stated her destination. The two thousandwon bills in her hand were crumpled.
“Young lady, you’re wearing a pretty dress. Going to a festival or something?”
The taxi driver, who saw Eun Ha’s attire through the rearview mirror, smiled genially.
“……Ah, well.”
Stammering in reply, Eun Ha fixed her gaze outside the window.
To Eun Ha, the unfamiliar Seoul landscape whizzed by like a zoetrope.

As expected, they arrived at the destination in less than 5 minutes. It was exactly the basic fare’s distance. As the taxi stopped in the curb lane, Eun Ha handed the two bills she was holding to the driver.
“You don’t need to give me change.”
It was the moment she unbuckled her seatbelt and opened the rear door.
“Young lady, you’re joking right now, aren’t you?”
Huh?
Suddenly, the taxi driver grabbed her shoulder.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
