Several hours later.
Inside the Unknown Gate.
“Damn it! Kyungho! Seok Kyungho!”
“I know, so don’t stop me!”
Vvvvvvmm─
The air vibrated. Smoke, resembling steam, rose from the dual legs of the ‘Striker’ Seok Kyungho.
Alertness.
As he kicked the ground and leaped forward, he suddenly disappeared from sight. And the next moment─.
Bbbooeeoogg!
With a dull sound, the monster’s neck rotated like a windmill. Junhwan, who had been waiting for the opportunity, didn’t miss that moment.
[Passive ▶ ‘Weakness Detection’ activated. Instantly identifies the enemy’s vulnerable point. Critical hit probability maximizes upon successful attack.]Flash!
The knife Junhwan held emitted a short and intense light.
Fwooosh!
…Thunk.
The monster, with its neck broken and chest pierced, collapsed powerlessly to the ground.
[Congratulations! You have defeated the last Named!] [The exit will be activated soon.] [ [Dash] [Dash] [Dash] Loading [Dash] [Dash] [Dash] ]“Haa… haa…”
Junhwan, breathing heavily, stared at the system window that appeared before his eyes.
Looking at the content alone, it wasn’t much different from a regular gate, but the difficulty was different. It took an S-rank hunter and five A-rank hunters quite some effort to clear just one Unknown Gate.
Wiping off the violet blood on the knife’s surface, Junhwan touched the ‘TIME’ section at the bottom right of the system window.
[Clear Time 08:03:22]With this lineup, even an S-rank gate could be cleared within 5 hours. But 8 hours.
‘It would have been dangerous if even one person was missing.’
Normally, legion members moved in pairs of two. For an S-rank gate, they operated in groups of three. Cases where all six members acted together were very rare.
At this level, he could understand the difficulty of Immortal Bleeding from the last Unknown Gate in Busan.
‘This is an Unknown Gate.’
Staring at the complicated gaze that fell upon the monster’s corpse beneath his feet, Junhwan suddenly felt a touch on his shoulder from Kyeongho, who approached unexpectedly.
“Bae Junhwan, what are you doing? Let’s quickly pick up what we need and get out. Move quickly before the time bonus ends.”
“Ah, right.”
“Still, even though it’s called an Unknown Gate, it’s okay to expect some harvest.”
But something was strange.
Nowhere were there any items worth using as loot. It was known that the Unknown Gate had arbitrary difficulty and rewards, but…
‘Is this even possible?’
No matter how much he thought about it, it was extremely strange. At the very least, there should have been some miscellaneous items like monster bones.
“Hey. Is an Unknown Gate usually like this…”
That’s when it happened.
Pooofff─!!!
Suddenly, a rainbow-colored smoke rose in front of them. It was undoubtedly the smoke bomb that Minju usually carried.
“M-Master?!”
Kelokkelok, surprised guild members coughed as they looked around, but due to the loud and colorful smoke, the figure of the small boy couldn’t be seen anywhere.
However,
“There’s still one left.”
Somewhere, only Minju’s faint warning could be heard.
“What? What is it?”
Certainly, they had defeated the last Named. They had confirmed the corpses and the clear message had popped up. However…
“Leave.”
Clang!
Somewhere, the sound of loading bullets could be heard.
“Right now.”
Saturday, the day promised with Minju.
Ding-dong─
After ringing the doorbell, it didn’t take long for the door to open with a soft click.
“Oh, Yura. Have you come already?”
Hyesu. One of the legion guild members who had come to have a drink with Eunha, captured by Minju.
Suddenly, Junhwan remembered what Junhwan said, that Hyesu, who was only a superficial sub-guild leader, had considerable power.
“Yes. Is Minju here?”
“Probably on her way now. Please come in first. It was boring guarding the house alone, and this works out well.”
Eunha, along with Hyesu, entered the headquarters.
Despite the above-ground floor not being very spacious, somehow it felt more spacious than before. It seemed like all six members, excluding her, had gone on a business trip to Pohang.
After Hyesu placed drinks and snacks on the table, she rummaged through her pocket and checked her cellphone.
“Why haven’t any of them contacted us about what they’re doing? It’s time for them to have left.”
Ttok-ttok-ttok.
As if sending a message to someone, Hyesu quickly tapped the cellphone screen multiple times and then firmly placed it on the table with a decisive sound.
“It seems like they’re doing sightseeing somewhere. Anyway, they say there’s not a trace of danger.”
Watching Hyesu, who tilted her head, Eunha faintly smiled.
“It’s always like that.”
“Ah, don’t say that. Since we came all the way to Pohang, wouldn’t it have been nice to go see the sea? Definitely.”
Hyesu clicked her tongue.
“Even if the Master is fifteen, the rest are all grown-ups. I can’t stop them even if I wanted to.”
Her appearance, with a clenched fist, looked like that of an older sister talking about her unruly and young siblings.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
