The return of the Trickster and the Princess of Dark Flame was not particularly surprising. After all, no one in the guild had ever worried that the Trickster wouldn’t come back.
“I’ve safely returned, so in conclusion, it’s a good thing.”
Lee Jun looked at Eun Ha and Min Joo, who were holding hands tightly, with a dry look in his eyes.
“Doesn’t the Trickster have something to say to me?”
He opened his mouth in a slightly stiff tone. Then the Trickster, Min Joo, tilted her head.
“There’s nothing to say.”
A cheeky reply. She seemed to have completely forgotten about crushing the head of the snake. Or maybe she was pretending not to know.
Lee Jun slowly and carefully scanned Min Joo from head to toe.
Except for missing fingernails and bruises on her fingertips, there seemed to be no noticeable injuries.
His grayish eyes finally settled on the hands of the two who were holding them. Soon, Lee Jun’s lips curled into a smile.
“This will be reported to the association in detail.”
“What’s the matter?”
“The ‘tool’ that was distributed for smooth search has been damaged arbitrarily.”
“Ah, I see.”
As Min Joo lightly turned her back and tried to grab Eun Ha’s hand, saying, “Sister, let’s go,”
“And—.”
Lee Jun turned his gaze and looked at Eun Ha.
“Leaving the guild without permission for individual action.”
“……”
Eun Ha stared straight at him without blinking.
Under the Hunter Law, all hunters participating in the gate had to obey the commands of the overall commander of the gate, that is, the leader.
If they did not comply, the association imposed a penalty on the hunter. It was a sort of demerit system, akin to a driving license system.
Exceeding a certain number of demerits resulted in a suspension of hunting activities for a specified period, and reaching the maximum demerits led to license cancellation.
“What? Hey, mister.”
Min Joo’s eyes narrowed angrily.
In reality, a license suspension against an Sclass hunter was not much of a threat.
There were fewer than ten Sclass hunters in Korea, and they were considered national treasures. In other words, Min Joo’s license would never be canceled for just this.
But the case of the Dark Flame’s Princess, an Fclass, was different.
Min Joo, releasing Eun Ha’s hand, walked briskly towards Lee Jun.
“What are you talking about now, you crazy old……”
Chik.
Eun Ha reached out and stopped Min Joo.
“Sister?”
“Stay still.”
“But.”
“……”
Min Joo said no more. Neither did Lee Jun, nor Eun Ha.
The air around the three suddenly grew cold.
In the silence that seemed to freeze, the desperate footsteps of someone approached.
“Be, Beck Hunter!”
It was an association agent, taking attendance.
“Mobius Hunter has not yet returned.”
“Really?”
Lee Jun turned his head slightly, in stark contrast to the agent’s pale face.
“Could you please check on Mobius Hunter?”
A hunter cautiously approached. During the initial search, he had teamed up with Mobius… Ah, he was a guild hunter.
In response to his request, Lee Jun shrugged.
“Well. That might be difficult.”
“Why? Why, why……”
“I don’t have a snake attached to him.”
Lee Jun gave an awkward smile.
Indeed. Just before Mobius went on the search, he had taken back the snake that had been attached to him.
The agent, recalling this fact, licked his lips with a pale face.
“Then, what should we do?”
Send another search team? In front of the anxious agent, Lee Jun chuckled softly.
“What to do?”
The grayish eyes that had been looking at the agent slowly and suddenly closed.
“Declare it as a missing case.”
The air turned icy in an instant.
There was no one there who did not hear his words. But no one there answered him. There was no need to, and no one could.
A few days later,
[Missing Hwarang Guild Mclass Hunter during Gate Search… Investigating the incident based on the Hunter Association’s statement] On August 23rd, news was reported that a hunter had gone missing from the Burst Gate that appeared at Yeouinaru Station.Rain poured down from the sky like a flood.
Xiu was motionless, gripping the steering wheel. He just stared at the windshield wipers as they moved tirelessly across the car window.
“Pres, President. Trixter and Maestro are here…”
The call from Jehwi. As soon as Xiu received the call, he stormed out of the mansion.
“…….”
The red light turned to green, and he pressed the accelerator a bit roughly.
There wasn’t a single car near Yeouinaru Station where the Burst Gate had appeared.
Squeak─
He skidded along the wet road as he stopped the car. He didn’t even bother to take the umbrella he had placed in the back seat, simply flipping up his hood and getting out of the car.
Police officers were removing the barricades that had been set up around the gate.
It seemed that the winning bid for the Burst Gate had been decided. Xiu’s blue eyes quickly scanned the heavy rain, not caring where the winning guild was.
“Ah, President.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
