Until the parliamentary session opened, Casar had to commute to the Imperial Palace every weekday for cabinet meetings, and as promised, he brought a bouquet of flowers each day to give to Scathach.

After the meetings ended, he would clock out and head to Firpalae Palace, where Scathach was staying.

Normally, Scathach would be busy learning dance or handling affairs of her domain, so he’d just hand over the flowers, briefly glimpse her face, and leave—but today was different.

“Casar. What’s wrong? Do you have something to say?”

Scathach leaned closer and whispered softly to the man who, unlike usual, showed no sign of leaving even after handing her the bouquet.

“Have you been meeting alone with him like this… inside the Imperial Palace all along?”

Ah.

She must have been displeased seeing him converse with Emperor Alan in the reception room of Firpalae Palace. Though they’d dismissed the servants briefly due to the sensitive nature of their discussion, she apparently still took offense at that.

“I was verifying how we’d establish the legitimacy of the kingdom’s restoration at the first parliamentary session.”

While staying at Lindkoem, Grand Duke Porgal had served as her errand-runner, but now that they were both residing together in Corbe’s Imperial Palace, Emperor Alan visited Firpalae Palace daily.

Before the full parliamentary session, the two had piled up a dozen or so volumes on international law and treaties and plunged into final reviews.

Truthfully, Casar could have completed such clerical work far more quickly, but Scathach wanted to demonstrate her own capabilities—to her late parents, and to Casar as well.

Thus, even knowing Casar would feel jealous, she persistently met with Emperor Alan to strategize.
