It was left for Scáthach when she gets married…… but after what’s happened, it will be difficult to get married normally. Unless I become someone’s wife again.
Thinking that it was my fault for not realizing how desperate Scáthach was as I was busy writing and submitting petitions every week, Étáin stopped in her tracks with reddened eyes.
Scáthach’s room was empty. Only a letter was left on the bed.
[Star Icon][Star Icon][Star Icon]Lindcoëm Station was the eastern terminal of the Parsad Empire Railway.
Wearing a hat with a face veil and dressed neatly in a white blouse and a light blue skirt that reached her calves, Scáthach stood on the train platform with a simple luggage bag in her hand.
The fever of first love had scratched and passed both body and mind. Regardless of her reluctance to call it “love”, if it wasn’t love, it wouldn’t be this painful. Therefore, Scáthach decided to admit it.
Originally, she had learned that puppy love was foolish.
With the feelings she had for the man named Cassard de Blahnath, she thought it would be beneficial for her mental health to bury it deep within her consciousness and vow never to repeat such folly.
Since admitting that, she had felt much better than when she was writhing and crying in bed, thinking that she had merely returned the necklace and nothing else mattered.

Whenever she felt like that, she also felt as though she had sold herself very cheaply.
However, she still couldn’t understand how a person could become so cold in an instant. After heated actions, after kissing her so affectionately several times, telling her to go. As if to disappear from sight, anywhere would do.
Even if he hadn’t cast her away coldly, Scáthach also had never dreamed that the end of this relationship would be good.
The ten noble families of the Parsad Empire did not allow marriage outside of other nobles in the ten families or foreign royalty, unless approved by the Imperial Family. Therefore, she knew very well that she, who was not even a princess now, could not be with Duke Blahnath.
But to keep away from him was a logical mind, and the fascination with his beautiful face and enchanting red eyes was a heart’s operation.
Thinking back now, it may have been the delusion of being immature and impulsive at twenty.
There was a time when she noticed that he no longer played Berlioz’s music and asked him why. You hate it, was his reply.
Maybe her heart began to open when she realized that a man who seemed to have no consideration at all was caring for her in that way.
Or it may have been the day after she realized that the large hand that held and comforted her during a nightmare was his, and he pretended not to notice her tension all day.
When he came to kiss her lips, when he kissed her whole body as if it were the most beautiful and precious thing in the world, when he pressed his lips several times with loving eyes unlike his naughty words, she seemed to have mistaken that the Duke felt the same way as she did.
But now she knew it was not so. Even if she were a princess, or even a noble who had bought the title with money, she couldn’t have done such a messy thing on the couch in the reception room.

Perhaps in the last moment when reason might have remained, the Duke finally chose his honor.
If he, the pinnacle of the Ten Families, had taken a common woman as his wife, she would probably have become the Duke’s weakness.
Forces that wanted to bring the Duke down could rant about the rights of the common people while tearing him down, or approach her to falsely testify that it was an unwanted relationship. In fact, hadn’t several reporters smelling the scent come to the monastery?
So Duke Blahnath made an excellent choice. It took days, shamefully, to accept that fact.
She buried her tired body deep in the chair on the train to Corvolo. It was not that she was not afraid of being alone.
But knowing how hard Etin had worked to become a nun, she couldn’t shamelessly cling to Etin’s ankles.
Hadn’t she heard the contemptuous glances and insulting words of the village people on the way to ask Director Roeagal for a letter of recommendation?
‘How can such a person be a nurse? So dirty, would you take the children to the hospital?’
‘Look at her hiding her face. I guess she’s not ashamed.’
It was something that they had not thrown stones. Holding back tears, she headed to the hospital.

Director Roeagal said that such a misunderstanding that she had made her wife would be quickly resolved, but from the royal standard of Scáthach, it was not much different from losing purity, so she could not be completely confident on that issue.
For Etin’s sake, and for her own sake, Scáthach, who was right to leave, could no longer dissuade Roeagal and wrote the letter of recommendation as sincerely as possible.
Although she is now running a small hospital in Lindcoem, she is a wellknown doctor in the medical community, so employment should not be difficult.
“Scáthach!”
Startled at the familiar voice, Scáthach suddenly looked up.
“Right. Phew, finally found you!”
After confirming Scáthach’s face, Nemed let out a sigh of relief and sat down, dropping his bag across the way. Judging by the sweat on his forehead, he seemed to have worked hard to find her.
“Nemed…? How…”
Nemed laughed, took a deep breath, and firmly pressed down on Scáthach’s hat, redeeming the value that had troubled him.
After hearing his father’s story about writing a letter of recommendation to Scáthach, he rushed to the monastery where only Sister Etin remained, nearly losing his breath.

He could not leave the child, who had already been physically and mentally wounded, alone. Moreover, especially if she was going to leave for Corvolo, as the letter stated.
“I went to the monastery and heard from Sister Etin. How can you leave only one letter? I had a hard time comforting her, crying and crying.”
“Ha, but… she’s worked hard to become a nun, so I can’t make her wander around because of me. I’m an adult now, and if I have a recommendation, I can get a job without a guardian…”
“Here.”
Nemed, cutting off Scáthach’s guiltfilled words, handed over a pouch woven from hemp.
“What is this?”
“Sister Etin said it’s yours and to make sure I give it to you when I find you.”
Carefully checking the contents of the pouch, tears welled up in Scáthach’s eyes. In the pouch was more than a handful of wellkept, still shiny jewels. Perhaps the Queen Mother Lia’s.
For a moment of excitement, she disappointed her parents and Etin, who had put their lives on the line to save her.
Apart from her resentment towards the Duke, she was horribly disgusting to herself. Every part of her body that the Duke’s lips and hands had touched burned hotly.

“Hee hee…”
Nemed didn’t know the exact reason why Scáthach was crying, but he thought it was probably because of her regret for Etin, and he patted her shoulder.
Hot tears fell, staining Scáthach’s pale blue skirt a deep color.
“Don’t cry.”
“Nemed… I’m, I’m so dirty. I’m so shameful and horrible…”
The moment he heard those words, Nemed’s heart felt like it was plummeting. The vague suspicion that his sister had become a government official and the confirmation from her own lips were vastly different.
“……You, you did nothing wrong. It’s not your fault.”
Indeed. If there was any wrongdoing, the Duke must have done it. He must have been intoxicated by Scathach’s beauty and acted on his own greedy whim.
Tears welled up in Nemed’s eyes as he comforted the sobbing Scathach. His fist was clenched so tightly that the veins on the back of his hand were about to pop, barely holding back his rage.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
