In the banquet hall, Sianna slightly craned her neck and looked for the Queen Consort.

The last time the Queen Consort had visited her was the day she received the Lerke family’s assets. If the teachers the Queen Consort had sent hadn’t come, Sianna might have thought the Queen Consort had forgotten about her.

The teachers sent by the Queen Consort taught her how to speak slowly and clearly and how to meet people’s eyes. She also learned how to manage a territory as a lord and how to keep accounts.

They were things she was trying for the first time in her life, but Sianna studied everything diligently.

Her efforts bore good fruit. Sianna still stammered, but it was much better than before. She also asserted herself much more definitively than in the past.

Even so, attending the banquet was still burdensome.

“The head of the Nevel family will not be at the banquet.”

The heir to Chesa, who came every three days to a week to check on her lesson progress, said this before the banquet began. It was somewhat comforting, but not completely reassuring. Those who acted as her father’s eyes and ears would be at the banquet.
