Love Me Just Once (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 90
The outcome came out as expected. The royal family’s request to expand their private army was officially approved by the Council of Elders.
The assembly only concluded after the official document recording the bill was stamped with the Elders’ signatures, signifying their consent. Only then did the heads of each house close their mouths and rise from their seats. Ophelia followed suit.
Idren, having descended from the throne, was seen approaching her. The passage reserved for royalty was located just behind the dais, and he came down so they could walk there together.
She could have easily gone up on her own, yet Idren always insisted on coming down himself. Apparently, he preferred doing things this inefficient way.
Normally, she would have accepted this thoughtfulness without a second thought, but today it nagged at her more than usual.
Placing her hand in his slightly rough, firm grip, Ophelia decided she ought to see less of him from now on. The more they faced each other, the more she felt things that shouldn’t have existed—things that were utterly pointless if she was to leave him behind eventually.
While she was lost in thought, the man who had escorted her to the dais suddenly pulled her by the waist. Before she could even react, her field of vision rose abruptly.
“You did exceptionally well today.”
Ophelia, now standing atop the dais in an instant, faced him directly. Those golden eyes, which she had just resolved to avoid, sparkled right at her.
Standing slightly below her, Idren gazed into her deep blue eyes. From this height, they looked even lovelier than usual.
Recalling how eloquently she had spoken just moments ago, Idren smiled with quiet pride. Perhaps Ophelia truly had no limits—if only she showed interest, she excelled at anything she set her mind to.
Just then, Ophelia let go of his hand.
“There’s no need to say things like that.”
With words that sounded rather cold, she immediately turned her back on him. Idren hurried after the woman who walked away without waiting for him.
When they entered the lounge where, at some point in the past, she had allowed him to drape an arm over her shoulder, Idren secretly hoped she might rest there for a moment. After all, that was where they’d once shared quiet, intimate conversation.

Male lead is a Divorced Husband
She said to him: “Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change it!”

Liu Changning transmigrated into a female cannon fodder character in a female-dominant novel.
After reading the first half of the novel’s plot, the first thing she did upon transmigration was to divorce the Pan Jinlian-style male protagonist she had just married.
She indulged herself, pretending to be ugly and poor.
But as time passed, the way that man looked at her became more and more unusual…
Liu Changning was dumbfounded: Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change!
――
This lifetime, Pei Yuanshao was rejected by the same woman twice!
The first time, she drove him away. Forced by the situation, he endured the waves of anger in his heart, yielding and humbling himself.
That person lay slanted on a rocking chair, her sallow face emotionless: “If you don’t want a divorce, go cook!”
Pei Yuanshao’s face was dark and gloomy: “You!”
The second time, after the crisis in Jinling City was resolved, the new emperor sent someone to pick him up. He turned around, stammering: “I… I have to go. If you keep me…”
That person lay on the kang bed, her back to him, as if she had long anticipated this day, crisp and clear: “Goodbye!”
Pei Yuanshao was so angry his fingers trembled: “You… you!”
The mission of family and country made him restrain himself, averting his eyes and turning to leave this broken household.
Two years later, they met again. Seeing her ethereal face, his body shook like a sieve.
“She was originally a ‘she’!”
At the Qionglin Banquet, the top scholar of the imperial examination, a talented person with exceptional speech and conduct, all the unmarried young gentlemen from aristocratic families looked at her with shy and timid eyes.
The peerless imperial official Pei Yuanshao felt the anger in his heart erupt. He pointed at the woman surrounded by the crowd at the Qionglin Banquet, his thin lips slightly curled: “Little sister, I wants that person to be the wife-master of my Mingde Prince Manor.”
