I swear, Ophelia was not the kind of person who cried during happy moments.

She couldn’t understand people who expressed joy through tears. There was laughter—a universal and conventional way—but why cry?

Yet, seeing her husband standing before her, his clothes not even properly fastened, her vision strangely blurred. Her throat trembled uncontrollably, and her lips twisted involuntarily.

Idren, realizing her expression was unusual, seemed flustered. Ophelia felt the man’s hand tremble as it reached to touch her cheek.

“Oh, Ophelia, why…?”

It was obvious he was hesitant, unsure where to touch to comfort her. At important moments like this, her husband always acted awkwardly—so Ophelia pulled him tightly into her arms. Beneath the hastily thrown-on clothes, still damp from a recent wash, she felt the familiar contours of his body.

After a brief pause, Idren soon embraced her in return. Though silent, the arms squeezing her body held twice the usual strength—a clear sign he had been just as anxious as she.

Idren closed the tent’s door while holding the sobbing Ophelia. She simply clung to him as he carried her toward a chair placed in the corner of the tent. Her tears kept blurring her vision.

Thinking she was overwhelmed by sorrow, Idren wiped her cheeks and said,

“I’m sorry for leaving you during such a difficult time.”

She was sick and tired of apologies. Ophelia grabbed the face of the man who had knelt on one knee before her after seating her on the chair.

“Don’t say such unnecessary things.”

Then, she kissed her husband.

Pressing her lips against his rough, chapped ones—evidence of days spent in hardship—Ophelia breathed in the warmth she had so deeply missed. Though her actions were desperate, Idren matched her rhythm perfectly.

The heat of his affection flowed from his heart through their touching skin. Only then did Ophelia realize how deeply she had yearned for it—how unbearably lonely she had been without Idren, the very source of that affection.
