Ophelia’s death was still a complicated matter for him, so Idren couldn’t readily come to a conclusion.

That meant he didn’t know whether Ophelia had truly abandoned him or if events had unfolded regardless of her will.

Hearing the words he’d always longed for in person was just like that.

Idren asked the woman leaning against his back, who remained silent.

“Was there a reason?”

If Ophelia said there had been, Idren was certain he’d believe her without question.

As long as her explanation wasn’t utterly absurd or unbearable to accept, he didn’t care what it was.

But Ophelia gave him no answer.
