The warm sunlight penetrated through the window and tickled Tae Joon’s face as he slept.
After wrestling with the sunlight for a while, he opened his eyes with a frown. The first thing that came into his view was Seo Rin sitting by the window.
Her white skin, distinct facial features, and the exotic beauty radiated by her black hair contrasted with the morning of San Francisco, giving it an exotic hue. Despite her perfect appearance, the side profile of her, with her lips tightly closed, seemed cold, if not haughty.
Thanks to this, the epithet ‘Ice Queen’ always followed Seo Rin.
But people wouldn’t know. How hot this cold woman turned in bed.
Tae Joon was the only man who knew that.
“You woke up early.”
At the sound of his muffled voice, Seo Rin’s dark eyes turned to him. His heart pounded at the sight of her captivating eyes, a wave of happiness rushing over him from the morning.
“Yeah. I think I should go home early. I have to pack.”
“Oh right. You’re leaving for Korea tomorrow, right? What time did you say your flight was?”

Tomorrow was the day Seo Rin would return to Korea after finishing her twoyear study abroad. Tae Joon was reconfirming the exact flight time.
But Seo Rin, possibly capturing the last scenery of San Francisco, opened her mouth indifferently.
“There’s no need for you to come.”
“What are you talking about? Of course, I should go.”
“You’re busy.”
“I’m not busy. And even if I am, I will make time to go.”
As if saying, ‘what are you talking about,’ Tae Joon sat up from the bed with a serious expression. As he did so, the bedsheet covering his body fell to the floor, revealing his wellsculpted physique without any filter to her eyes.
It was his body that had burned all night, holding her close. A unique physique where all of the superior male genes had been put in, contrary to his pretty face.
Thanks to that, she didn’t know how many times she had collapsed on the bed last night.
Seo Rin opened her eyes thinly, taking another look at his body, which could have been the last. The thought that she might never face that man again already made her regretful.

“Just wait two months. I’ll have some time after two months. Let’s meet in Korea. Once you get to Korea……”
“Let’s break up.”
In the end, Seo Rin spat out those words.
Surprised by the breakup declaration that came out without an inch of hesitation, Tae Joon, still half asleep, turned his eyes towards her. His black eyes, swaying aimlessly beneath his scattered bangs, fully revealed his confusion.
“What…… are you saying? Is it because you’re going to Korea? If that’s the case, we won’t be able to see each other as often as we do now……”
“I can’t do longdistance relationships. I’ve never even thought about it.”
“So…… you want to end it like this?”
“Yes.”
The answer coming from the mouth of the woman who had been burning passionately in his arms until last night was too cold.
Thinking this must be a dream, Tae Joon closed his mouth for a moment.

However, Seo Rin’s stubborn eyes in front of him were indicating that this moment was definitely not a dream.
“You’re joking, right? We’re…lovers. Is breaking up that easy?”
“There’s nothing difficult about it. It’s not like we’re married.”
At her calm response, Tae Joon felt his breath hitch.
Because whenever she spat out words with such an emotionless face, he knew all too well from experience that her decision was absolutely irrevocable.
“We loved each other, didn’t we?”
“Have I…… ever confessed that I love you, even once?”
Shock swept through Tae Joon’s eyes at that moment. Unlike him, who had endlessly confessed his love, he just now realized that she had never once said those words.
“But…… even if you don’t say it, I know. Love doesn’t have to be expressed in words.”
She was hot in bed. It was a temperature that couldn’t burn without love. Tae Joon was talking about that.

“And you…… I was your first.”
At his words, Seo Rin’s dark eyes turned back to him.
That’s right. He was her first man.
Tae Joon, who was sweet and warm, was perfect as her first man. Perhaps that’s why she accepted him without any resistance.
“They say…… first loves don’t come true.”
But in the end, even Tae Joon’s warmth couldn’t penetrate her cold heart. And Seo Rin turned her gaze away from him, as if she had no intention of changing her decision about the breakup.
“Hey, Baek Seo Rin!”
“You might feel like dying now, but you’ll be fine soon. There’s so much more in your life, Tae Joon. Take comfort in that.”
“No, that can’t be comforting.”
“……”

“For me…… love is everything.”
He had learned that. A woman who loved him more than anyone in the world told him there was no power stronger than love.
So when he met Seo Rin, enchanted by that powerful attraction, he had given everything he had without reserve. Because he believed she was that love.
But despite his desperate gaze, the temperature in Seo Rin’s cold eyes did not change.
“I’m sorry, Tae Joon.”
“……”
“But for me…… love is a curse.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
