A cold sound came from Jacqueline’s fingers. Elizabeth’s face flushed red with anger.

“You—this—Jac—!”

“As you well know, I’ve got no honor left to lose. If you really want, I could yank your hair out right this very moment. Shall we begin?”

At those words, Elizabeth hesitated for the first time. She knew better than anyone that Jacqueline was the type who followed through on her words.

“I’ll give you one last piece of advice, Liz—don’t make Uncle Walter sad.”

“Don’t you dare interfere in our father’s affairs!”

Elizabeth snapped back coldly, then took a deep breath, swallowing down the rage that had surged all the way to her throat.

It had been the same at Bristol Girls’ Boarding School. Out of consideration for Walter, Jacqueline had ignored Elizabeth’s provocations and kept her frustration bottled up.

But once she reached her limit, she’d issue a chilling warning—and inevitably force Elizabeth into submission.

Elizabeth shot her a sharp glare, then clenched her teeth and said,
