Long Live the Emperor, Minus Me (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 50
As a result, the moment I returned to the palace, I collapsed onto the bed without even changing my clothes.
“You must be very tired?”
Tula asked as she untied the ribbons of my dress. It was understandable she’d be puzzled—after all, it wasn’t as if I’d just met anyone; I’d been with Lady Martina, yet I looked as exhausted as I had been after receiving both the Grand Duke and the Emperor in quick succession.
“Tula.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
“Is it difficult for you to tailor my clothes?”
Taken aback by my sudden question, Tula’s reply came a little slowly.
“Oh, no—not at all. Why do you ask? Is there something wrong with the outfit choices…?”
Though I couldn’t see Tula’s expression with my eyes closed, her anxious air was almost palpable. Today of all days, I seemed to be causing so much misunderstanding among the children. Too tired even to lift my hand, I merely shook my head slightly.
“No, never mind. Your choices have always been perfect. —It’s just that, if you’re willing, I’d like to keep entrusting you with my clothing from now on.”
On my way back, I’d realized that in my previous life, I hadn’t grown weary of making clothes merely because I’d had fewer options—but also because I rarely had to involve myself directly in the process.
Only when His Majesty had bestowed upon me a hundred bolts of silk, insisting I make new garments, had I needed to personally decide every detail—the style, the embroidery, and so on.
But aside from such rare occasions, I’d usually left my wardrobe to my spouse. Even with limited choices, arranging seasonal court attire, casual wear, nightclothes, and the like would’ve been tedious.
Though I’d had no choice but to accept Lady Martina’s suggestion at the time, having Tula manage my attire as she did now would be an immense help otherwise.
Of course, if Tula ever found it burdensome, I’d have considered assigning one of the maids specifically to handle my wardrobe.
