“What did you say?”

My heart churned with unease. Escaped? Why? Could it be to take revenge on me?

Countless thoughts churned violently in my head.

Unlike me, who was deeply troubled, Edmund remained utterly unperturbed and gestured toward the dining table.

“Have you finished your meal?”

I nodded absentmindedly, and Edmund pushed back his chair, stood up, and reached out his hand.

As though spellbound, I took it and left the dining room. When we reached the stark white corridor bathed in light and devoid of any presence, he stopped and spoke.

“He is currently on the run, and the knight order is tracking him. Additionally, my private soldiers will join the search, so please don’t worry.”

“But… that’s strange. Last time, you said his leave request was denied precisely because there were fears he might flee.”

Edmund seemed torn for a moment, as if unsure whether he should say this or not.

“It’s fine—just tell me.”

When I lightly grasped his shirt sleeve, he let out a shallow sigh and spoke gravely.

“He has entered into a marital relationship with a woman named Berita, who was once your sworn sister. As his legally recognized guardian, she prepared the necessary documents required for his leave.”

My mouth fell open in utter shock—so stunned I could hardly believe it.

What happened to his lover from before? And now he’s married Devon?
