Life After Divorce (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 23
Silence descended upon the dining room.
In the stillness so deep that not even breathing could be heard, our eyes met.
As the heavy atmosphere lingered, my emotional outburst began to feel awkward.
‘How foolish… why did I say that to someone who knows nothing about it?’
At the same time, I was flustered. Why had I, who usually expressed myself defensively, just laid bare my feelings to a stranger as if taking out my frustrations?
‘It’s not even his fault that I carry this trauma.’
Unable to bear Edmund’s piercingly direct gaze, I looked away first.
“I’ll get up first.”
As I placed my napkin-holding hand on the table to rise, a low voice suddenly intruded.
“I’m sorry.”
Turning my gaze, I saw Edmund slowly stand and bow his head.
“If my careless words caused you pain, I sincerely apologize.”
His tone was even and uninflected, yet solemn and sincere.
An apology for rudeness was only proper—but when such a basic courtesy went unoffered for too long, it felt strangely unfamiliar.
Moreover, since becoming Etricia, everyone around me had been consistently rude; thus, a heartfelt apology from someone who I thought disliked me was enough to leave me utterly flustered.

She turned around upon hearing the noise.
He looked up at her, his eyebrows drooping: “My hand… has no strength.”
“Shall I… feed you?” she asked tentatively.
He opened his mouth cheerfully: “Ah—”
Thinking she was drowning, he jumped in without hesitation to save her, but nearly drowned himself. In the end, it was she who swam over to rescue him, giving him air underwater.
After emerging from the water, his ear tips turned red. He lightly brushed his cheek, tucking his sideburns behind his ear, revealing delicate, pink-tinged ear tips. He lowered his gaze, too embarrassed to look at her.
