It was when Rail had put down his duty as Lirien’s escort and visited the northernmost forest.

At that time, the forest was classified as a monster danger zone and surrounded by a magical barrier, but due to a magical tool error, a princess from the western region accidentally entered while wandering near the forest.

Knights, rushing in response to a nighttime alarm, blushed and hesitated at the sight of a woman in scant clothing.

Just as monsters attacked and the princess was about to be devoured, Edmund appeared and saved her.

The princess from the west was enveloped in a vision of a silver-furred wolf, blood-soaked, looking back at her.

It was enough to fall in love.

“I want to marry you and go to your homeland.”

“Not unless I’m insane.”

Edmund responded with disdain to her passionate confession as if looking at a mad person.

The princess, unused to such cold treatment, was further fueled by a desire to conquer.

She stayed near Edmund for a fortnight, not leaving the forest.

She entertained the knights with a troupe she brought from her homeland, drew attention by riding a lion with flamboyant manes, and offered lavish western food.

But Edmund stayed in his tent, not even glancing at her.

As all forms of temptation failed, the princess, resorting to seduction, shamelessly sneaked into Edmund’s tent.

Edmund, seeing the woman atop him, remained motionless and asked:

“Who are you?”

“What…?”

He dragged the dazed princess out and handed her over to a knight.

“Assassin. Get rid of her before I throw her to the monsters for being annoying.”

With such a statement, the western princess left in humiliation, tears streaming, cursing in harsh western profanities.

“Huh, how could he not remember the face of a woman who tempted him around for a fortnight.”

Rail finished reminiscing and glanced sideways at his master.

Edmund’s sightings were the talk of the empire, especially after a special edition newspaper had stirred the capital the previous day.

Rumors were rife about the empire’s hero with silvery hair and deep eyes.

Women of marriageable age were flocking to dress shops, hoping to catch Edmund’s eye, though he had no interest in them.

“Hope Lady Lirien doesn’t resent this.”

Rail sighed heavily, his head throbbing.

“Forget useless thoughts and deliver the letter.”

Edmund handed over the Emperor’s letter hidden under the documents.

Rail nodded slightly and disappeared into the darkness.

Edmund, scanning the space where Rail had been, emotionlessly examined the documents and then thought of the day’s events.

“Please take good care of that delicate child.”

“Thinking of the innocent and kind Lady Etrisha pains my heart…”

“Be a bit more affectionate with the sister-in-law, she’s pitiful”

Edmund scoffed and ran his elegant hand through his hair.

“Astonishing.”

Delicate? Innocent and kind? Who, exactly?

He couldn’t comprehend the remarks, even if Rail’s were meant to persuade him.

Sure, the sister-in-law’s betrayal could theoretically be hurtful, but the descriptions were off. She had decisively decided to divorce and skillfully hired a lawyer.

She was shamelessly affectionate with Lirien, whom she knew he had tried to kill, a shrewd person who manipulated situations to her advantage, potentially willing to harm others again.

Such a dangerous individual, delicate and kind?

Perhaps, at a glance. His uncle and the vassals who claimed to believe in him had been like that.

They whispered sweetly and kindly, pretending to trust him, but who knew they’d stab him in the back immediately after.

Ha, Edmund laughed savagely, narrowing his eyes. He vowed never to let down his guard, no matter what.
In the dimly lit office, a fierce gleam flashed in Edmund’s eyes like that of a wild beast.

Lirien, sitting on the sofa in the private fitting room, covered her mouth and sprang up.

“Etrisha, you look so lovely in that!”

As I smiled dryly in response, Lirien excitedly tugged at Edmund’s sleeve.

“Right, Edmund?”

Edmund, who was sitting languidly on the opposite couch with his legs crossed, looked up at me standing on the platform.

I flashed a harmless smile, but he returned it with a piercing gaze as cold as the north wind.

“It suits you well.”

I chuckled at his grudging compliment.

“Thank you.”

But your face looks sour. I appreciate the effort, though.

Edmund observed me closely and then averted his gaze nonchalantly.

Sighing softly, I hadn’t expected him to accompany Lirien and me himself. I thought there would just be a watcher.

Especially today, Edmund’s gaze was so fierce that it made me jittery.

‘What did I do?’

Was it because I made plans with his sister without consulting him? Or because of Berita?

As I pondered, a commotion passed beyond the curtain.

Lirien looked bewildered.

“It seems crowded today.”

Well, your brother has returned.

I swallowed my words and smiled.

The empire was abuzz with stories about the return of the elite knights from the subjugation mission.

Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day

It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.

The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.

Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.

If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.

It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.

The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.

In the end, everything will come together and be explained.

One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!

In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.

Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.

However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.

Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.

Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?

——

Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.

His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.

Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”

——

The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.

Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!

Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!

The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…

——

But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.

The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.

She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…

Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”

Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”

Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

[Small Theater]

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.

Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”

Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.

Zhu Wansheng: ?

Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…

On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.

Warm breath lingers on her neck.

“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
