“Ah, that guy, he reeks of guilt,” Tail said, scrunching his nose and waving his hand as if to dispel a bad smell.

“He’s currently Count Buell, formerly Devon Diel before marriage. It’s rumored there were suspicions in the society when he inherited the wealth.”

“Suspicions?”

“The previous Count Buell passed away right before leaving everything to his prospective son-in-law instead of his daughter. The public thought it was insane. Although the parties denied it, everyone whispered about it.”

Tail squinted his eyes and sneakily glanced at Edmond.

“So, what should we do? Shall we kill both the guild leader and that woman?”

Thump! Seizing the opportunity, Rail kicked Tail in the thigh for his foolish question. Ouch, Tail toppled over.

“You idiot. Why would the Master keep the guild leader alive and let that woman stay in the mansion? It’s obviously to put them at ease and keep an eye on them.”

“If it wasn’t for me, you would’ve been dead…”

Tail got up and grabbed Rail’s collar, starting round two of the twin brothers’ fight.

Watching them indifferently, Edmond was lost in thought, recalling recent events.

Preparing to return from the forest, he was worried about Lirien’s missing contact for days.

A strange report came in while he was reassured by the house manager’s updates.

“Lady Lirien has brought a guest. An indebted person who saved her from being hit by a horse in the alley… What? The mansion in the noble district is on fire? She witnessed it and invited the person to the secondary residence?”

Everything seemed too perfectly aligned.

“Rail, what was he doing during this time instead of reporting?”

He had tried to contact Rail through the communication orb, but it was weakly connected.

Returning with Tail, they managed to save Rail.

Who would have thought he’d be found collapsed on someone’s roof?

“Cough! I saw it clearly. The assassin who attacked me wore the uniform of the underground assassination guild.”

Heading straight to the assassination guild, Edmond smoothly unraveled the whole situation.

“It was Countess Buell who ordered it! I just did what I was told!”

The person who tried to kill his sister was Etrisha Buell.

The mistress of the Levron mines, chosen by the gods, a position neither the royal family, the temple, nor the magical tower could interfere with.

Edmond was deeply puzzled about why she pretended to be Lirien’s benefactor and came to the mansion.

Grinding his teeth, he wondered.

Was it to win trust and then kill personally? If that’s the case, the burning of Count Buell’s mansion was likely part of her plan too.
Or was it just a drunken act of bravado leading to a murder contract, as the guild leader claimed? That too was infuriating. It was shameless to have tried to kill someone and then show no remorse.

Edmond, radiating a fierce murderous intent, had arrived to find a woman, Etrisha, lying in his bedroom, seemingly dead to the world.

He scoffed at the sight of her defenselessly asleep in enemy territory.

Without hesitation or conflict, he had planned to kill Etrisha. Even if his sister was alive, the fact that Etrisha ordered the assassination remained unchanged. She must have harbored ill feelings towards his sister and nearly caused them a permanent separation.

Covering it up wouldn’t have been impossible either, given the clear statements and evidence of her instigating murder.

‘I should have killed her then.’

But his attempt to gauge her intentions had led him to miss the moment, trapping him in time.

‘I wish she would stay longer at the mansion… but I have no right to detain her…’

Consequently, he realized his naive sister had already grown fond of that woman.

After listening to Lirien’s praises of Etrisha, Edmond was pushed to change clothes without even a chance to savor their reunion.

‘Edmond, you must be a gentleman to her? She’s a sensitive person with many wounds. Don’t threaten her like a wild bear just back from hunting.’

His sister even lectured him on manners, something she never bothered with before.

It was absurd to think what Etrisha had done to win his sister over in just one night.

“Hah.”

Edmond sighed deeply and brushed back his unruly hair, clearing his view.

Below, through the open window, he saw the back garden. Lirien was animatedly explaining her plants to Etrisha, part of her hobbies, including baking. Etrisha was listening to her with a genuinely kind and gentle demeanor.

Clicking his tongue, Edmond furrowed his neat brows.

‘I can’t just kill her now.’

Male lead is a Destined Young Husband (Female-dominant)

One-sentence summary: Wife-master, listen to my explanation!

Li Ruantang, a young lady from a prestigious family, stumbled and fell. When she woke up, she saw a noble and beautiful young man sitting by her bedside, wiping away tears.

The young master had slightly reddened eyes, and his every move exuded charm.

The sight made Li Ruantang’s eyes hot and her heart flutter. After all, she had made a bet with the young master Meng from the neighboring family. If she couldn’t marry a husband before the end of the year, she would have to admit defeat and give up the jade she had worked so hard to obtain.

Outside the window, the flowers were in full bloom.

Rather than losing the bet, the jade, and her face, Li Ruantang calculated that it would be better to seek marriage with the young master in front of her, killing three birds with one stone.

…

Meng Jun never thought that an accident during a spring outing would lead to them rolling down a cliff and into a river, yet still survive.

Now they were trapped in an unknown village, and Meng Jun had overheard that the family who had rescued them had their own intentions.

After all, it was Li Ruantang who had lost her mind and sought marriage first. He was only trying to protect himself!

Glancing at Li Ruantang, who was listing her own merits, the young husband’s voice softened, and he blushed as he lied, “W-wife-master, Wife-master, don’t you remember me?”

The young husband’s voice was clear and handsome, coaxing Li Ruantang’s heart to be soft and sweet, and she spared no effort to protect him.

It wasn’t until they returned to the capital that Li Ruantang suddenly remembered.

When they had fallen off the cliff, in order not to implicate Wei Yunruo, whom he secretly admired, the young husband had instead pulled her, who was slightly farther away, down the cliff with him…

Short summary by Yuushi L: Initially, the male lead (ML) liked another girl, while the female lead (FL) liked the ML. Both fell off a cliff. The FL temporarily lost her memory, and the ML, fearing others might take advantage of him, claimed FL was his wife while they were staying in a village. Later, when they returned home, the FL regained her memories and remembered that the ML liked someone else, so she kept her distance from him. However, during their time living together in the countryside, the ML’s view of the FL had completely changed. From this point, his pursuit of the FL begins.
