“Tail. Rail.”
Two dark shadows stretched long behind Edmond.
“Did you call us, Master?”
“Did you call, Master?”
Tail and Rail.
They were twins, refugees from a village brutally erased from history by the beasts of Jedder Forest. They had sworn loyalty to Edmond after he saved them from becoming prey to the beasts while they were surviving in a nearby cave.
Tail had been assigned to the extermination squad, and Rail was responsible for Lirien’s personal security. It was their first proper reunion in about nine years.
Looking out of the brightly lit window in the dark office, Edmond leaned against the window, turning his gaze to the twins. He nonchalantly gestured to them.
Tail, seemingly waiting for the moment, pointed at Rail next to him and laughed mockingly.
“You know, but this guy almost died from the evaporating poison spread by an assassin from the murder guild. Embarrassing. If we had arrived any later, he would’ve turned to stone and died.”
Rail glared at Tail with fierce eyes.
“You jerk, can’t you talk more elegantly? I just fell asleep, I wasn’t dying!”
“That’s equally foolish, falling asleep while guarding Lady Lirien. Do you think you were assigned to her protection for that? And I am speaking respectfully to our Master.”
“Show respect to me, your older brother! I am one minute older!”
“What, you idiot? Didn’t I tell you the medical records were wrong? I’m the older one!”
“It’s me!”
Suddenly, the squabbling twin brothers, Tail and Rail, froze.
A chilling aura crept up their spines.
They slowly turned around.
Edmond’s eyes, deepened in the darkness, shone sharply like a raptor’s.
Tail and Rail, their faces pale, hastily hugged each other.
“I love you, brother!”
“I love you more, brother!”
Let’s be together forever. Smack, smack. Tail and Rail gave each other hot kisses on the cheeks and cautiously glanced at Edmond.
Years ago, Edmond had warned the constantly fighting brothers that he would throw them into a beast’s mouth if they fought one more time.
They laughed it off as a joke when they were young, and as a result, they almost went to the afterlife together.
The terror of hanging by their necks over the gaping maw of a beast was unforgettable.
Sighing, Edmond swept back his silver hair that reached his shoulders, his face showing irritation. He closed his eyes, frowning, and said,
“Give your report.”
“Yes!” Tail and Rail tensed up and responded. Rail spoke first.
“According to the guild leader’s statement, the client who ordered the assassination of Lady Lirien was indeed Countess Buell. She came in drunk the previous day. It’s surprising that a noblewoman knew such a shady guild.”
“And then?”
“Then, she sobered up and came back to cancel the order. An assassin was already sent, and she hastily tried to save Lady Lirien.”
Unsuccessful, the chilling thought of what might have been shook Rail.
“According to additional reports from the guild leader, the woman had used a drug of oblivion. She regularly consumed an antidote, so when she took the poison, she collapsed, which led to her discovery.”
Edmond’s eyebrows twitched as he spoke.
“The reason for ordering the murder?”
“It seems like an impulsive crime under the influence of alcohol. There are cases like that. People get drunk and get the nerve to kill someone they hate.”
Hate? Edmond narrowed his eyes. A word that didn’t fit his sister at all.
“Did you find out the motive?”
“That’s…”
Rail scratched his head, looking troubled.
“It’s highly unlikely Lady Lirien, known for her kindness even to plaza pigeons, would harbor any grudge, and the financial relationship with the notoriously wealthy Countess Buell doesn’t make sense either. There’s no interest linked to Lady Lirien’s death. The only remaining motive is a love affair.”
“A love affair?”
Rail, deep in thought, hurriedly corrected himself upon noticing Edmond’s icy glare.
“No, of course not! Lady Lirien often feels lonely, but she wouldn’t meet a man. She longs for friendship more. However, I am concerned about the times I was away from her side. Like when I went to see the Master intermittently and when she suddenly left for a trip to the borderlands.”
Rail looked around cautiously and gave a faint smile.
“Should I investigate Lady Lirien’s whereabouts during those times?”
Tail clicked his tongue and shook his head in disapproval.
“So, in the end, we don’t know why Countess Buell tried to kill Lady Lirien? Pathetic.”
Frustrated, Rail glared at Tail but said nothing. He couldn’t deny Tail’s words.
Having lived without combat experience for 9 years, it was plausible for Lirien’s surroundings to have relaxed their guard.
If Tail hadn’t fed him an antidote when he collapsed on the roof the previous night, he might have already been dead.
Moreover, when Rail woke up, Lirien had already returned to the mansion, accompanied by Etrisha.
Damn. Rail felt he would be haunted by a sense of inferiority compared to Tail for a long time.
“What about the Buell side?”
An Indifferent Woman is the One Men Desire the Most
One-line summary: The female lead is actually cold-hearted and extremely rational. She has stage-by-stage relationships and won’t two-time, but there will always be someone who secretly likes her.
This novel has the following triggers, so if you’re sensitive to these, please don’t read:
1. The female lead has had many relationships, but she treated each one seriously and broke up properly.
It’s just that the men unilaterally pestered her incessantly. For the female lead, when she doesn’t like someone anymore, she simply doesn’t like them.

2. In this novel, Male Lead 2 and the female lead kiss in a car, and Male Lead 1 sees it and beats up Male Lead 2.
The female lead calls the police and sends both Male Lead 1 and 2 to the police station! Male Lead 1 begs the female lead not to break up with him.
3. Male Lead 1 has a gentle appearance but an obsessive personality.
