As soon as I barely made it home, Len greeted Vivian with the same smile as always.

She, too, wanted to respond with a smile, but couldn’t bring herself to do it—after all, she’d messed up badly.

Vivian let out a sigh, her expression unreadable—somewhere between sadness and resignation.

“…Hey, I think I’m completely ruined.”

Len silently met her dejected gaze with his own.

Could she be referring to having drawn Princess Veronica’s suspicion?

Vivian didn’t know it, but Len had overheard her entire conversation with the princess through the shadow he’d placed on her.

Though he’d already figured out what she was talking about, he pretended not to and replied gently,

“Has something gone wrong?”

“Yeah, something big. But don’t worry too much. Even if they catch me for kidnapping, I’ll never say your name. You go on and live a new life….”

Seeing her cover her eyes with her hand and fake crying somehow struck Len as oddly adorable, and he smiled softly.

The idea of Vivian getting arrested was utterly unthinkable.

Because I would never allow it to happen.

Still, Len played along appropriately.

“How could I possibly live a new life without you, Lady Vivian?”
