‘Tartarus’ vibrated with the sound of a whale’s cry. The barrier firmly holding the bronze gates shuddered, rhythmically contracting and expanding weakly, as though it were alive.

It almost seemed to be quietly complaining, and Hades frowned.

Sensing the King of the Underworld’s displeasure, Hermes quickly removed his sandals and whispered something near the barrier.

“Tartarus, don’t complain. It’s true you and Gaia gave birth to monsters capable of killing us, isn’t it? What’s that? You never physically coupled—so why single you out? Ah, just play along, will you?”

……It all sounded perfectly audible.

Was that fellow a comrade or an enemy? Hades sighed inwardly and glanced around at the surrounding prisoners.

Many familiar faces were among them—humans, Titans who had sided with their master, and others. One elderly figure shouted toward Hades.

“Don’t put on airs, Aidoneus!”

So here, he wasn’t Hades or Pluto—but Aidoneus.

Judging by how this person had called out his childhood name, he must be someone Hades recognized.

‘Could it be Styx’s former husband?’

Styx was one of Hades’ attendants, but the husband before him had been a Titan who sided with Cronus.

Though it seemed poignant that husband and wife supported opposing factions, Styx herself had called her husband a foolish opportunist—

because he’d been utterly obsessed with “killing” his traitorous wife.

Styx’s husband pointed a finger accusingly at Hades.
