Hearing Chainer’s words, Rapha and Maddox were speechless for a moment.
Though Chainer was challenged, she had the Gypsy’s innate ability to foresee the future and see souls.
Suddenly, Rapha felt a shock.
“Maddox, is the fiancée that beautiful?”
“Yes, why?”
Chills ran down Rapha’s body. It couldn’t be a coincidence, could it?
“Let’s see her face.”
Rapha rushed outside, agitated.
When Leah awoke in the carriage, it was the middle of the night, and she was alone.
She banged on the door and shouted for Pollin, but no one responded.
‘Why am I alone here?’
She tried to remember. She had gotten into the carriage and waited for Pollin. Then, overwhelmed by a strange scent in the carriage, she lost consciousness.
‘I’ve been kidnapped.’
There was no other explanation, but the carriage was undoubtedly the duke’s.
Leah frantically tried to open the door.
“Please open the door!”
She banged on the windows and shouted, but no response came.
Suddenly, the outside became noisy with people’s footsteps and torchlights, illuminating the area like day.
Bang bang, Leah seized the moment to pound on the door.
“There’s someone in the carriage!”
As Leah shouted, the door burst open.
“!?”
Leah was startled to see Rapha and Chainer among the people outside.
“Miss!”
Chainer rushed into the carriage and hugged Leah.
“Grandpa, what’s going on?”
Leah asked anxiously. But Rapha didn’t respond, instead shouting at the people around.
“Quickly, take this lady back home!”
“Why? After finally capturing her, why send her back?”
Maddox, bewildered, questioned Rapha.
“Just do as I say without any backtalk. If you value your neck, do it now!”
At his command, Maddox and his men moved quickly.
The problem was Chainer. She clung to Leah and refused to leave her side.
“Miss, I’m sorry for this. I’ll explain everything later, just go home for today.”
“What? What do you mean?”
“Chainer, get out of the carriage now!”
“No! I want to stay with sister.”
“Dammit!”
Rapha’s efforts to separate Chainer from Leah were futile.
He needed to leave Leah at the duke’s residence unnoticed before the duke arrived, but Chainer wasn’t helping.
The more Rapha tried to separate them, the more stubbornly Chainer clung to Leah, crying incessantly.
Then, the area brightened further with the sound of horse hooves and soldiers’ battle cries.
Terrun pieced together information from his subordinates.
Shop owners where Grace and Pollin had visited reported seeing two carriages with the duke’s insignia.
The duke’s carriage was custom-made and very expensive.
That day, strangers had crowded a carriage workshop, demanding the duke’s insignia be put on a carriage, and they reeked of strong musk and spices.
‘Fools are brave but utterly stupid.’
His hunch was right.
Lawless beings, conducting their scheme without any guilt and carelessly leaving evidence.
And the only people who bore him ill will were them.
A carriage identical to the duke’s was parked outside Rapha’s building. His gang members had all come out, somehow anticipating his arrival.
“This makes it easier.”
Terrun dismounted his horse and approached the carriage.
He and Rapha, the gang leader, faced each other.
“Was it your doing?”
Terrun asked, barely containing his rage. Then he heard Grace’s voice from inside the carriage.
“Terrun?”
“Grace!”
Terrun immediately entered the carriage to find her, accompanied by another woman.
Thankfully, Grace didn’t seem to have been mistreated by them.
Terrun brought Grace out of the carriage. Chainer was forcibly separated from Leah by Rapha.
“What happened?”
“That old man kidnapped you.”
“What? That’s impossible. Why would Chainer’s grandfather kidnap me?”
“That old man is the head of the Rapha gang.”
“!?”
Terrun handed Grace over to Luke, then walked towards Rapha.
Rapha seemed to have something to say, constantly moving his lips. But since he couldn’t deny kidnapping Leah, he had no excuse.
“Hey! You gangsters! I don’t forgive twice.”
At Terrun’s words, Rapha closed his eyes in resignation. Terrun then shouted orders to his soldiers.
“From this moment, annihilate the Rapha gang. Burn down the building and take these criminals to the police station!”
“Yes!”
At Terrun’s command, the soldiers moved efficiently. Rapha’s building was soon ablaze.
The gang members tried to resist, but they were no match for the armed soldiers.
“Conduct a summary trial tomorrow and execute them all.”
No one dared to resist Terrun’s chilling command.
An Indifferent Woman is the One Men Desire the Most
One-line summary: The female lead is actually cold-hearted and extremely rational. She has stage-by-stage relationships and won’t two-time, but there will always be someone who secretly likes her.
This novel has the following triggers, so if you’re sensitive to these, please don’t read:
1. The female lead has had many relationships, but she treated each one seriously and broke up properly.
It’s just that the men unilaterally pestered her incessantly. For the female lead, when she doesn’t like someone anymore, she simply doesn’t like them.
(This applies to her relationships with Male Lead 1, 2, 3, and 4 as well, but she’s loyal in each 1-on-1 relationship!)
2. In this novel, Male Lead 2 and the female lead kiss in a car, and Male Lead 1 sees it and beats up Male Lead 2.
The female lead calls the police and sends both Male Lead 1 and 2 to the police station! Male Lead 1 begs the female lead not to break up with him.
3. Male Lead 1 has a gentle appearance but an obsessive personality.
Male Lead 2 has a delicate and soft appearance, slightly green tea-like (two-faced).
Male Lead 3 is a youthful college student and a smart person who has secretly liked the female lead for a long time.
Male Lead 4 is the female lead’s father’s special assistant, a business elite with deep, hidden thoughts.
4. At the beginning of this novel, the female lead has already broken up with Male Lead 1 (Chapter 4) and gotten back together with Male Lead 2 (ex-boyfriend).
5. Enter with caution if you have triggers!!!
