Unable to accept the criticism, her defiance grew.

Standing outside the lounge, Leah decided to return to the ballroom. There were many men waiting to dance with her, eagerly requesting dances, which kept her busy.

Among them, one man boldly took Leah’s hand.

“I’ve been waiting for you, Lady Bizac.”

He seemed younger compared to the other men but had an unmatched boldness. Was it because he was a prince?

But before they could take a few steps, Salame was stopped.

“It’s time to return my fiancée to me.”

Terrun had already brought Grace back to his side as he spoke. Salame awkwardly smiled and disappeared.

“Terrun, I’m tired. I want to go home.”

“Alright.”

Seeing that Grace was not in good spirits, Terrun immediately took her out of the ballroom.

Inside the carriage on the way back to the duke’s residence, Leah remained silent, unable to erase the harsh words about her dress from her mind.

“Next time, don’t wear that lace dress.”

“!?”

Leah was infuriated by Terrun’s comment. Did he really need to add to her frustration?

“Why? It’s pretty.”

“I want to rip it apart.”

“What! How could you say that?”

His words felt more humiliating than being called vulgar or insane.

Did Terrun also judge her in the same way as the ladies? Leah abruptly stood up and moved to the opposite seat, turning her head towards the window to completely ignore him. She felt apologetic for putting Terrun in an embarrassing situation because of her.

‘But saying he wanted to rip it apart was too much.’

“Are you angry?”

She didn’t respond to his question, fearing it would lead to a bigger argument.

Terrun looked troubled and rubbed his forehead, realizing that his explicit expression of desire was perceived as demeaning by Leah.

Leah was the highlight of the ball. Even the Empress came to her, saying:

“[Duke Courtois, it seems a new queen of the social circles will soon emerge in Lubeck.]”

“[That’s too kind of you.]”
[Women often don’t fully understand the charm they possess. But Lady Bizac knows exactly how to express her beauty boldly without being excessive.]

Terrun didn’t pay much attention to the Empress’s praise.

Even while conversing with dignitaries at the ball, his mind was solely focused on Grace. It was a new experience for him, driven by intense protectiveness and anxiety. He didn’t enjoy the ball at all, feeling as if there was a beast living inside him.

He wanted to take Grace away immediately, tear off that insubstantial lace, and satiate his boiling passion.

‘I desire you madly.’

The problem was that he found himself increasingly drawn to her, to an uncontrollable degree.

“Seems like you’re the one who’s upset, not me,” Leah said with a pout.

“Because Grace didn’t keep her promise.”

“What promise?”

Had they made a promise at the ball? She couldn’t recall anything like that.

“I told you to look only at me, didn’t I?”

“Ah! This man really knows how to be unreasonable.”

“Did you keep your eyes only on me then?”

“Yes.”

“Really?”

“I might not have shown it, but I was always watching you, Grace.”

Leah felt a chill and her heart pounded. It was confusing whether Terrun was a master in the art of love or a novice who wore his heart on his sleeve.

“But saying you wanted to tear off my dress was too much.”

“I still want to.”

“What?”

Suddenly, his hand pulled Grace onto his lap. His hand gently caressed her back.

“I want to tear it to shreds and possess you completely.”

Terrun whispered softly to her.

Meanwhile, Leah’s eyes were filled with confusion. What would he do after tearing her dress? Did he even have the desire, given his biological limitations?

It was strange. Terrun, who seemed ready to devour her, appeared like a ferocious beast, but as far as she knew, he couldn’t be one.

“Let me go.”

Leah felt threatened by Terrun.

His behavior was that of a perfectly normal man, even exhibiting intense possessiveness that scared her.

“But you can’t, can you?”

Leah quickly returned to her seat.

“What do you mean I can’t?”

“Nothing. Never mind.”

She had to be careful with her words. A careless remark might deeply wound a man’s pride.

“Tell me, what can’t I do?”

He insisted on a response.

“You’re a gentleman.”

“!?”

‘So much for being a gentleman.’

He laughed hollowly at her comment.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away

This is also on my reread list!

This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.

Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.

But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.

Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.

I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.

The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.

As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
