After arriving at the inn where he had arranged to meet Arcadia, Zion finally let out a long sigh only when he entered the room and was alone at last.

He had barely slept for two days straight.

The memory of that night refused to fade—neither in the comfort of a soft bed nor while racing his horse like a madman.

That memory clung to him so tightly he couldn’t think of anything else.

Until sunset, Zion sat slumped on the edge of the bed, staring blankly out the window.

It was clearly because of those words.

Zion Belfast wasn’t foolish enough to simply believe her explanation that she’d kissed him on impulse.

He had felt her collision against him, shared her gaze, breathed in her breath—it hadn’t been false.

Why had she reacted so fiercely to the words “white butterfly”?

When they’d reunited at the Grand Duke of the South’s mansion—when she’d crawled out through the air vent to save him—and he’d asked her name, she’d replied,
