Those who had previously gossiped about the queen’s sudden return from the Spring Temple now abruptly changed their stance, defending Reneola with remarks like, “Well, that makes sense.”

The citizens of the kingdom genuinely rejoiced at Reneola’s pregnancy and prayed earnestly for her safe delivery. Festivals erupted everywhere, even making front-page headlines in newspapers.

Naturally, it was welcome news within the palace as well. After nearly twenty years without a child in the already understaffed royal household, everyone was thrilled at the prospect of hearing an infant’s cry once more.

Noblewomen and members of the royal extended family came to visit Reneola to congratulate her on her pregnancy. The nobles did the same.

They all arrived bearing gifts. While some came with pure intentions of celebration, many others sought to secure favor for the future.

It was Kahilrn who abruptly cut short this endless stream of well-wishers. Seeing how exhausted Reneola was, Kahilrn issued a decree to the nobles:

“Anyone wishing to pay respects to the queen must first seek an audience with me.”

Naturally, from that day onward, noble visitors ceased entirely.

Furthermore, a general amnesty was declared across the nation, granting leniency to countless minor offenders. Kahilrn also ordered half of the taxes collected from his domains to be returned directly to the people—all done in hopes of ensuring Reneola’s safe delivery.

The head chef, who had served in the First Prince’s quarters for many years and now oversaw the inner palace kitchens, devoted himself morning and evening to preparing nourishing meals.

The royal gardener planted beautiful flowers in the garden most visible from the inner palace terrace, while the royal tailors hurriedly searched for fabrics least irritating to sensitive skin.

The royal physicians checked and recorded the queen’s health daily, holding emergency meetings at the slightest sign of change.

Having previously incurred Kahilrn’s displeasure by belatedly discovering her pregnancy, they owed their very lives to Reneola’s mercy. Yet,

“If we make even one more mistake, we’ll surely be executed in secret—without the queen ever knowing!”
