Time flew by, and before I knew it, the day of the First Prince’s return had arrived. Wearing the dress Floria had lent me, I turned this way and that before the mirror.

‘Wow, this is just begging to be mocked.’

From this angle it sparkled, from that angle it sparkled—this red dress, studded densely with crystals, looked dazzling at first glance but was utterly tacky. Elegant Floria would never own such a thing; it was clearly prepared specially for me.

‘Then again, this is exactly Reneola Violet’s taste. But seriously, isn’t this hairpiece over the top?’

I sighed as I looked at the golden accessory tangled like spiderwebs atop my updo. Unlike Floria, whose hair shone a brilliant gold, Reneola had soft chestnut locks.

Already feeling inferior to the stunningly beautiful Floria, she always adorned her hair with the most extravagant decorations.

“You look absolutely beautiful, sister!”

Floria clapped her hands together, gazing at my reflection in the mirror.

“I remembered you’ve always liked accessories like this, so I prepared it—and it suits you perfectly.”

I smiled back at Floria’s cheerful grin.

When House Violet was still powerful, everyone pretended not to notice Reneola’s eccentricities, but now she’d surely be ridiculed. Floria must have known this, which was why she’d handed me such an ostentatious hairpiece.

“Let me take a look.”

Floria stood shoulder to shoulder with me, both of us facing the mirror. Unlike my flamboyant appearance from head to toe, Floria wore a pure white dress reminiscent of a wedding gown, her hair simply braided down.

‘Hmm. Classic wicked stepsister and sweet Cinderella.’

I shrugged inwardly.
