“How absurd.”

That sharp reply wasn’t mine. Nor was the murderous aura emanating around me. I glanced up at Kahilrn. His glare fixed on Shanna had grown even fiercer than before.

“When you dared try to kill Vi, where were you then? And now you come asking for help? Shouldn’t you first beg forgiveness before spouting such nonsense? If Vi hadn’t stopped me, I’d have already twisted your neck.”

His voice dripped with bitter regret, as if deeply disappointed he couldn’t do just that.

Shanna must have struck a nerve—especially after I’d barely restrained myself since earlier—by offering to help me only under conditions. When I grabbed his arm, Kahilrn looked down at me with an expression that plainly said, “Let’s just kill her already.”

“We don’t need anything like that.”

“Kahilrn.”

I shook my head, and Kahilrn’s brows furrowed sharply. At that moment, Shanna calmly interjected.

“I already knew Her Majesty the Queen would be safe.”

She pointed to the bracelet clasped around my wrist.

“You were wearing it even when we met before. You could have easily concealed your power, yet you didn’t—that was clearly a warning to me: ‘Don’t lay a finger on Her Majesty.’”

It seemed she was right. Kahilrn stayed silent.

“I thought that as long as you had the bracelet, everything would be fine no matter what happened in Seize territory.”

I looked down at my wrist. The bracelet I’d worn before had broken after saving my life, so this one was newly given to me by Kahilrn.

‘Even though nothing like that will ever happen again, I’ll feel reassured as long as you’re wearing this.’
