The nobles whispered loudly enough for me to hear, surrounding me as I contemplated whether to take the champagne. The creativity in their backbiting was universal, whether they were maids, ladies-in-waiting, or nobles. It was so stale it became tedious.
“But look at Floria. Even in simple attire, she exudes a grace that can’t be imitated.”
“Truly befitting of a future princess.”
As I picked up the champagne glass, I turned my gaze to Floria, who was being praised even more in comparison to me. She was moving around with Prince Eric, continuously smiling sweetly.
“Why is Floria the only one in a different color dress from the royal ladies?”
“Obviously, they deliberately ostracized her.”
“How could they be so petty?”
“Even being shunned by her own family… How could they be so heartless…”
As expected, most nobles sympathized with Floria being the only one in a different dress code. The plotting noblewomen, failing to achieve their aim and instead receiving scornful looks, could hardly hide their annoyance.
‘She must be pleased.’
I sipped the champagne, observing Floria’s content expression. A satisfied smile constantly played on her lips. Seeing her like that, I too felt my lips stretching into a smile.
‘This must have raised her trust in me a bit, right?’
I hid my pleased smile behind the champagne glass. Just then…
“His Royal Highness, Cahilern de Hillick, the shining sword and guardian of the Kingdom of Hillick!”
The voices of the guests, engaged in light conversations, turned towards the direction of the announcement.
I too turned my head, sipping champagne. I preferred not to catch the First Prince’s attention, but now that it had come to this, I was curious to see his face, wondering if he was indeed as terrifying as a child scaring bogeyman.
Soon, the doors opened on both sides, and Cahilern made his appearance.
As soon as I saw him, the first impression that came to mind was ‘tall’. His height was distinctly different from that of average men. His arms and legs were long and lean, and his physique was impressively large, yet he appeared nimble rather than heavy or sluggish.
Moreover, the commanding aura enveloping him emitted a sharp energy that made it difficult to approach and strike up a conversation.
However, strangely enough,
‘Why is he wearing a mask?’
Contrary to the original work, the First Prince, wearing a mask that covered his entire face, made me tilt my head in confusion.
Regardless of my puzzlement, the black mask perfectly complemented his ambiguous outfit, which seemed to be either a formal tailcoat or armor, reaffirming his nickname as a ‘monster.’
But his appearance, capturing everyone’s attention as he leisurely descended the stairs with his long legs, was elegantly incongruent with his nickname.
I was observing the First Prince, who had captured everyone’s gaze with just his entrance, when a familiar feeling struck me.
‘I think I’ve seen that build somewhere before…’ As I rifled through my memory, I recalled the carrot-carrot-carrot bookstore owner, or rather, the guild leader of the Black Horse, Karl. Indeed, their physiques seemed quite similar.
‘No way,’ I thought, shaking my head immediately. The First Prince, emanating a menacing aura, couldn’t possibly be that sly man. Although he did seem a bit scary at the guild, crucially, unlike the First Prince, who was famously vicious-looking, Karl had a perfect face.
“Why would he wear that mask, I wonder?”
“Who knows? Maybe he sustained a significant injury during the war…”
While the nobles were murmuring about the concealed face behind the mask, the First Prince approached the king and queen. Fortunately, Floria was with them, so I had the chance to observe the first meeting between these two central figures of the original story.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
