Cahill walked across the room toward me with graceful strides, looking more handsome than ever. He swept his hair back, revealing a perfectly structured forehead, and his impeccably attractive facial features were on full display.
Beside me, Eileen and the Countess couldn’t help but release admiring gasps. I, too, found it increasingly difficult to look away from the approaching Cahill.
It seemed as if Cahill had eyes only for me in this room, ignoring everything else around him. Standing right in front of me, he slowly scanned me from head to toe. Then, leaning in close, he tilted his head, and his lips drew a satisfied curve.
From the distance where our breaths could mingle, he spoke discreetly, “I must be exceptionally handsome. You can’t seem to take your eyes off me.”
Well, it’s no wonder. Cahill’s violet eyes were mischievous.
I stared at him with a broken face, giving him a somber look. Typically, in situations like this, the first words to come out of a man’s mouth would be:
“Your eyes are so dazzling that I can’t look away.”
“You’re unbelievably beautiful.”
“Even if an angel descended from heaven, they wouldn’t be as beautiful as you.”
Well, aren’t those compliments a bit too cliché and cringy?
Cahill, with his self-assured expression as if he knew he was handsome, was quite something. I realized that reality was different from the male protagonists in the romance novels I had read so far.
“Yes, today, your radiance is so dazzling that it’s hard to look directly at you. Even an angel descending from heaven wouldn’t be as exquisite as you.”
In response to my somewhat dismissive praise, Cahill chuckled softly.
“I appreciate your praise, which lacks any sincerity.”
As if gesturing to behave, he shrugged his shoulders, smoothly avoiding me. However, unexpectedly, he grabbed my hand and planted a kiss on the back of it. Startled by the sudden intimacy, my shoulders shivered. Cahill, keeping his lips moistened, looked down at me.
I couldn’t take my eyes off his deep gaze, as if he was trapping my gaze. It felt as if time had stopped, as they say.
Ahem, a fake coughing sound abruptly brought me back to my senses. I turned my head as Eliza chuckled.
“I am delighted to witness such a genuine moment between the two of you. However, the banquet will start soon, so it would be best to stop moving.”
It felt as if we were seen as inexperienced lovers who didn’t know what to do with each other. I quickly withdrew my hand from Cahill’s grasp, thinking, ‘That was unexpected.’
Anyway, due to Cahill’s tempting behavior at every opportunity, I couldn’t afford to let my guard down. I casually used my other hand to scratch the ticklish back of my hand.
Eliza, who had been watching us, wiped away the tears that had welled up in her eyes with a handkerchief.
“As the mother, I am relieved that Your Highness loves my daughter so much.”
Eileen, who had been absentmindedly watching, also suddenly snapped out of it and interjected.
“As your one and only younger sister, I am also very happy that you are marrying such a wonderful person, Unni.”
Eliza, who spoke as if Floria did not exist, couldn’t take her eyes off Cahill. Now that I became a sister-in-law, I understood why people might blush when they looked at their brother-in-law. I, too, had grown accustomed to him because we had been together so often; initially, I even forgot to breathe because of his attractiveness.
Cahill, looking at those who gazed at him with sparkling eyes, extended his arm to me as a short nod. “Come.”
As our fists met slowly, Cahill pulled me toward the wedding aisle, lifting his lips as if to say something charming.
Usually, preparations for the marriage of direct royal family members took almost a year due to the significant slope of the country’s topography. However, given the worsening health of the king, the preparations for my and Cahill’s marriage were completed within just two months. It matched the timeline of the original work where Cahill and Isolde’s wedding took place.
The season was a late autumn that seemed to transition into winter soon. The sky was clear, and the crisp air was refreshing.
With our fists still clasped, Cahill and I walked together down the wedding aisle. Although numerous envoys and nobles guarded the place, not everyone looked at us with congratulatory eyes.
Despite practicing for this day countless times, it was more nerve-wracking than I thought to walk between the many eyes that would scrutinize every move as if ready to pounce on any mistake.
I involuntarily exerted strength in the hand holding his arm. Unlike me, who seemed tense, Cahill, who was walking nonchalantly, lowered his head and whispered, “Nervous?”
“People are only looking at us. How can you be so nonchalant?”
“Well, I’ve never cared.”
Cahill glanced at the audience with an indifferent gaze. It was an expression that didn’t care at all about how he was seen by others. Perhaps it was natural for him, having been a royal from birth.
“Just imagine pig nostrils when you feel conscious.”
“What? Pig nostrils?”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
