I curtseyed, and the ladies responded with a reluctance in their manner.

Being a fallen noble in a maid’s outfit, they probably wanted to treat me poorly, but they couldn’t be too disrespectful in front of Floria, who was being formal with me.
I turned my gaze to Aisha Randle, the last one to greet me. Once the closest friend of Reneola, she was also the daughter of the family that first shut their doors to the Violet family when Floria became the princess.

Though I wanted to leave after greeting her, persistently declining might offend her. Reluctantly, I moved towards the table Floria pointed to. That’s when I saw someone’s foot stealthily sticking out beneath my vision. A quick glance revealed Eileen pretending to be unaware. Seeing the three maids exchanging looks, I inwardly scoffed at their shallow tactic, something straight out of a teen movie.
‘Hmm. This could be a good start.’
I quickly decided and deliberately stepped on the expectant toes.
“Aaah!”
Eileen screamed in pain and fell, clutching her foot. I feigned shock, covering my mouth with my hand.
“Oh, I’m so sorry. I didn’t see you there.”
Apologizing with an innocent expression, I watched as Eileen glared at me with tear-brimmed eyes. I subtly curled up the corner of my mouth where only she could see.
