The place where Herold put Evelia down was the secluded Soyeon Armory, rather than the grand Daeyeon Armory.
“What’s everyone doing here……?”
Evelia, who was put down on the ground, squinted against the bright sun and asked.
It was a novel sight to see the knights gathered in the Soyeon Armory instead of the Daeyeon Armory, so it felt quite unfamiliar.
None of the knights answered Evelia’s question.
Instead, only Herold’s low voice echoed in the Soyeon Armory.
“Is the tool ready?”
When Herold asked, looking behind him,
“Here it is.”
Derrill handed Herold the tool to hunt Miss into his hand.
“Miss, do you know what this is?”
They didn’t need an excessive tool to hunt a small chick.
A small madeleine to fill the stomach was enough.
At the delicious smell, Evelia looked up.
She saw the colorful madeleines nestled in Herold’s hand.
Madeleine. The madeleine that Elysia banned due to Evelia’s recent cravings.
Even its figure was beautiful.
Her sleepy eyes sparkled.
“Ma… Madeleine!”
When Evelia reached out her hand, Herold quickly lifted the madeleine higher and said,
“If you do me one favor, all these madeleines are yours.”
Strange? He usually gave it to her readily?
“Gimme…… heeeng.”
“You can’t.”
Really strange? He should have given it by now?
“Heeeng…… give it quickly. Huh? Huh?”
Evelia chanted with her arms stretched high towards the madeleine.
All the knights instinctively clenched their hearts.
That attack was a foul.
Critical! A shock akin to getting hit in the head on the battlefield swept past them.
“Uh, no…no way.”
“Bbaang Bbaang.”
Herold’s face twisted in agony as Evelia stretched out both her hands and stomped her feet.
“I really can’t… no, just take one for now.”
Herold, who had solemnly declared he wouldn’t give in, gently placed a madeleine into Evelia’s hand.
“Ah, everything is wrong, everything’s wrong.”
“We should have never given it until we had her on our side.”
The knights who were watching from behind came forward, grumbling.
“What now? Is it all over?”
The Artina Knights were supposed to stay in the Duke’s house only until Evelia turned five.
That was only an extension granted after a massive protest that everyone in the capital knew about when Hugo wanted to kick them out right after Evelia’s escort knight was selected.
“Next year, our lady will turn five…….”
“Our lady is still this small…….”
The Artina Knights didn’t want to leave their little chick lady behind and return to the North to face the detestable demons.
In fact, the knights had been rotating in shifts, with half the year spent in the North hunting demons.
Therefore, there wouldn’t be any neglect in the demon subjugation even if they stayed in the capital longer.
“We need to see our lady making her social debut.”
“We should break the wrists or ankles of those who torment our lady.”
“And bend the waists of those who harass our lady.”
“Even if our lady were to get engaged, break the groom’s neck before the wedding.”
“We need to live peacefully like that…….”
But it was out of the question to try to win over the lord.
The lord, who had already let them stay in the duke’s house for a prolonged period, was out of reach.
Therefore, the real power behind the throne in the Duke’s house!
All it took was gently shaking a madeleine to sway her to their side, making the lady their primary target of persuasion.
All the knights made up their minds firmly.
Even when the young miss cried and begged for madeleines, they decided to absolutely not give it to her until she sided with them and rushed to them.
However, the young miss’s request was not something that could be conquered by willpower.
Since it had come to this, the best course of action was a straightforward approach!
Thud.
“Young miss!! I don’t want to go to the north!!”
Deril collapsed onto the floor of the training ground. It was not a dignified kneeling either.
Literally a collapse.
It looked like a bear that had failed to get a hardtack, sinking down with a wail.
“Me neither!! There’s no young miss in the north… you know the Dantalion you saw before? Those kinds of guys chase me every day trying to eat me, young miss….”
Dwen, who often caught and killed demons with his hands because he found it bothersome to draw his sword, cried out too.
If the demons that were dismissed from the world by Dwen’s bare hands heard this, they would likely jump out of their graves.
The knights expected a reaction along the lines of ‘Oh dear, our Deril, our Dwen must have been so scared. I’ll tell father for you!’
However, Evelia, while nibbling on a madeleine, merely opened her eyes wide.
‘These knights must be crazy…!!’
The look in the young miss’s eyes as she regarded them as somewhat insane.
The Artina knights exchanged glances upon seeing this.
In a moment of exchanging glances suggesting they kneel and beg properly,
Alek nodded heavily upon seeing the knights’ gazes.
‘Hmm. I understand what those looks mean.’
‘Yes, Alek. You should beg the young miss first.’
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
