Yerin, having no other choice, led Ihyeon up the stairs to her apartment at the very top. Ihyeon’s forehead creased slightly as they climbed the many steps.
“The stairs are a bit much, sorry.”
“It’s fine. It’s not your fault, Secretary Han.”
After a long climb, they arrived at Yerin’s attic villa.
“My place is quite small.”
“It’s okay, just open the door, Secretary Han.”
Yerin punched in the door lock code and entered first. She felt embarrassed to show Ihyeon her cramped home, but there was no avoiding it now.
“The bathroom is here, just a moment.”
As Ihyeon started to enter, Yerin grabbed his sleeve and quickly played a popular song on her phone.
“What’s this?”

“Our house isn’t soundproof. The music is loud enough to mask any noise from outside, so go in without worry.”
Ihyeon, amused, bent down and entered the bathroom. Yerin noted that the ceiling seemed a bit low for Ihyeon. The door clicked shut.
Yerin moved to the kitchen, farthest from the bathroom. Feeling awkward just standing there, she unknowingly started boiling water in the coffee pot.
Soon, the sound of running water signaled that Ihyeon was washing his hands.
“I feel strange.”
Just having Ihyeon in her house felt oddly disconcerting, and memories of that night began to surface – Ihyeon’s voice whispering tenderly in her ear as he embraced her…
Thud –
As if to interrupt her impure thoughts, the boiled coffee pot made a noise.
“I’m crazy, really. What am I thinking?”
While Ihyeon was struggling with the aftermath of that night, she needed to stay sane.

Then, suddenly, a familiar deep voice came from behind.
“What’s the matter, Secretary Han?”
“When?”
Startled by his sudden presence, Yerin’s brown eyes trembled with fear.
“Just talking to myself about tomorrow’s tasks.”
At her response, the corners of Ihyeon’s mouth curved into a smile.
“You’re diligent, Secretary Han.”
“Thank you.”
Normally, she should have asked Ihyeon to leave now that his business in her home was finished. But strangely, she didn’t want to. Maybe it was the Korean sense of kindness, or maybe…
Ihyeon looked curiously at the steaming coffee pot behind Yerin.

“Why did you boil water?”
“Oh!”
Startled, Yerin stammered, then covered her mouth, laughing at her own absurdity.
“Would you like some tea, Director?”
Ihyeon’s eyes narrowed slightly at her offer.
“I’m not trying to seduce you, Director. It’s just that I enjoyed the dinner so much tonight, and I thought…”
“It would be okay.”
“Really?”
“Well, I’m not sure if I should accept tea from Secretary Han.”
“Is it because of the promise you made before coming here?”

Leaning casually against the fridge, Ihyeon nodded once.
“I promised to leave immediately after using the bathroom, but if I stay for tea, it might seem like a broken promise.”
“No, it’s okay. I invited you for tea.”
“Then I’ll sit and wait quietly.”
Ihyeon pulled out a chair by the dining table.
Yerin busily opened a storage cabinet.
“Of all places, I had to put it there.”
She didn’t often have visitors, and had recently reorganized her home, putting the green tea bags on the top shelf.
“Hmm.”
Standing on tiptoe, she reached out. The box of green tea was just barely within reach.

“Just a bit more…”
Pushing harder to reach the box turned out to be a mistake.
As if to tease Yerin, the box she was trying to reach slipped further back into the cupboard.
“Ah, really.”
With no other choice, Yerin stretched even taller on her tiptoes.
Despite being tantalizingly close, the box remained just out of reach.
That’s when it happened.
“…….”
Feeling a too-familiar warmth from behind, Yerin turned her head abruptly, only to be startled even more.
Ihyeon’s face was incredibly close to hers.
Unwittingly, Yerin found herself gazing into his face, mesmerized.

Her heart lost its rhythm, pounding wildly as if Ihyeon might hear its thunderous beats.
Yet, she couldn’t tear her eyes away from him.
His face, like a meticulously carved statue, captivated her gaze.
Dark eyebrows, unfathomable black eyes, a prominent nose, and sensuous lips.
Involuntarily, Yerin swallowed.
Belatedly breaking her gaze from Ihyeon’s face, she looked down.
The warmth in her apartment had prompted Ihyeon to remove his tie, and a couple of buttons on his shirt were undone, revealing his skin underneath.
‘Every part of him is so attractive, it’s troubling.’
Her thoughts were interrupted by Ihyeon’s voice, low in her ear.
“Are you done admiring?”

“Uh?”
“I wasn’t sure how long I should wait.”
Only then did Yerin snap back to reality and pushed Ihyeon away with both hands.
For a fleeting moment, she felt the firmness of his chest muscles against her palms.
Her face flushed crimson instantly.
Ihyeon stepped back, bumping lightly into the fridge.
“Oh, I’m sorry, Director.”
Ihyeon laughed for a while, seemingly amused.
“I know I’m not very likable, but…”
“No, it’s not like that.”

“Still, resorting to violence seems a bit much.”
Rubbing his waist where it had hit the fridge, Ihyeon handed her the box.
