Sa-jun, who was trying to get up, sat back down by the bedside and asked, “Were you not sleeping?”
“Did you not sleep?” With a calm gaze and expression that was hard to believe just made a weak sound, Tae-hee responded.
In the quiet air, the cautious sound of footsteps, the faint scent that brushed the tip of the nose, and the subtle breath that gently touched the eardrums.
Yet, he preferred the sensory perception of Kang Sa-jun, drawn not with eyes but with feelings.
Even though he heard unexpected words.
The fact that Sa-jun also had fears was fascinating, surprising, and, at the same time, a cause for concern.
Tae-hee, who was trying to sit up, unknowingly suppressed a groan due to the pain coursing through her entire body.
At the small sound of her suppressed groan, Sa-jun’s composed face crumbled.
With a face that was startled, his outstretched hand hesitated, not able to touch her, and he seemed lost in uncertainty.
It seemed that he couldn’t easily reach out because he didn’t know where and how much pain there was.

“Grab my shoulder, not my arm, and help me up.” When Tae-hee, who was in pain, gave detailed instructions, only then did Sa-jun help her rise by holding her shoulder.
“Is it very difficult?”
“It’s not difficult, but it hurts a lot. It feels like twitching and tingling, like electricity flowing, every time I move. Now it’s your turn to answer.”
Stubbornly keeping his mouth shut again, this time it seemed like he wanted to stick to silence.
In the past, he might have tried to understand and accept it, but not anymore. The relationship had changed, and there had to be a change.
In half a day, Tae-hee pulled Sa-jun’s refined cheek with her hand.
“Are you really not going to tell me?” Gently asking as she caressed his cheek with her fingertips, Sa-jun’s pupils shook for a moment.
However, despite his trembling, Sa-jun continued to endure, and now, beyond concern, it made Tae-hee curious.
What could be your fear?
The small hand that covered his cheek delved into the hair like a gentle caress, messing it up. Tae-hee approached silently as their eyes met, and she started a gentle kiss.

The first kiss was feather-light. As it dug a little deeper, skillfully parting the lips that had opened gently, Sa-jun couldn’t help but turn his head.
“You’re injured,” his low and rough voice resonated. While he couldn’t take his eyes off her lips, he slightly leaned back, creating some distance.
Where does this patience and self-control come from?
“Your lips aren’t injured?” “Min Tae-hee, it’s something men do. When kissing, leaving hands still… no, let’s stop talking.”
Sa-jun laughed again at the absurd change in the conversation topic. This time, he seemed to be trying to pass it off with a laugh, but it was impossible.
“I tell you everything, but why don’t you tell me?” Now Tae-hee asked, pressing him as if to confront him.
Instantaneously changing the utterly absurd topic of conversation, Sa-jun laughed again as if to dismiss it.
This time, it seemed like he was trying to brush it off with laughter, but it was futile.
“I tell you everything, but why don’t you tell me?” Tae-hee asked now, pressing for an answer.
If it’s a habit that needs to be fixed anyway, might as well address it from the beginning.
“I almost couldn’t see you for the rest of my life because you didn’t express your inner thoughts. Do you want that to happen again?”

As if hitting the bull’s eye, Sa-jun’s face received a proper blow.
“It’s difficult for you to express it in words. So, let’s start one by one. Tell me, what are your fears?”
Tae-hee’s black pupils, as if a lighthouse lost in the vast sea, were shaking.
The dense, long eyelashes created shading that made the black eyes look deeper and more captivating.
Even in this seemingly precarious moment, it was beautiful. What to do if it was beautiful? The devil was a devil no matter what.
Watching those eyes as if savoring them, Tae-hee patiently waited. Several seconds passed like an eternity.
And finally, Sa-jun opened his mouth.
“I was afraid.”
“…….”
“I was afraid I would lose you in front of my eyes, Min Tae-hee.”

Unexpectedly, at the answer, Tae-hee’s mind went blank. The fear was because of himself. She hadn’t thought that far. How would Sa-jun have felt witnessing his near-death with his own eyes?
If Sa-jun had witnessed his near-death, how would I have felt? Even imagining it was horrific, so Tae-hee closed her eyes.
Rather than watching someone I love die, it was a more terrifying hell to witness it.
“I didn’t want to show a weak side to you.”
With a wry laugh added like a sneer, Tae-hee slowly opened her eyes.
Why did that faint smile, appearing somewhat disheartened, seem like a smile that would burst into tears?
Finally, Sa-jun seemed to understand the pain and fear he had felt. No, she could understand. Therefore, it hurt, and tears seemed to be imminent.
What am I saying that you’re so afraid of? Captivated by the distant yet oppressive feeling, Tae-hee embraced Sa-jun’s neck.
“You didn’t lose me.”
“I almost lost you.”

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
