Having avoided Kang Sajun for two weeks using busyness as an excuse, Taehui lay sprawled on her bed, wriggling like a caterpillar.
“Should I just go? Or not?”
Her once-a-week escape to Club Gio on Fridays was like an oasis in the desert for Taehui, though it wasn’t much of an escape. Just watching people have fun and sipping on drinks.
But for Taehui, who spent her weeks packed with work, it was her only pleasure. Gio was the only place where she could drink in peace.
Yet, she couldn’t enjoy her little escape these past two weeks because Kang Sajun, her friend of 13 years, was the owner of Club Gio.
Embarrassingly, Taehui, who everyone praised as a goody-two-shoes, actually didn’t know how to sincerely connect with people.
That’s why Kang Sajun was her only friend, both male and female. He was the only one she met and talked with.
That’s why she always went to Gio, but now she couldn’t, for that reason.
“Ah, I’m really going crazy.”
Taehui sighed deeply and covered herself entirely with a blanket.

Every time she saw Kang Sajun these days, her heart raced uncontrollably. Precisely since a month ago, when she cried in his arms at his Ilsan house and he comforted her.
The memory of his warm fingertips wiping away her tears, his large hand cradling her cheek, his deep eyes looking into hers, and his low voice whispering comfort in her ear was vivid.
That day made her conscious of everything about Kang Sajun and made her heart pound whenever their eyes met.
It was a pink crush she thought she never had in 13 years.
But Taehui knew she shouldn’t fall for Kang Sajun, of all people.
She was someone who needed to solve problems immediately, but no matter how much she thought about this, she couldn’t find an answer.
But staying cooped up at home avoiding him wasn’t the solution either.
With that thought, Taehui suddenly got out of bed.
“Ah, whatever! He’s not a mind-reader. He won’t notice me among all those people, right?”
Especially since he hadn’t called even once in two weeks.

After showering, Taehui got ready to go out, repeatedly telling herself that her extra effort wasn’t for Kang Sajun.
When the elevator door opened, the long marble corridor was revealed. Despite her elegant walk, Taehui’s eyes were blazing.
Contrary to her expectations, Kang Sajun wasn’t a mind-reader, but there were too many people at the entrance of Club Gio who could act as his eyes.
The conclusion was she had to turn around before even stepping into Club Gio and head here instead.
Standing in front of Suite 2502, where Kang Sajun treated like his home in Seoul, Taehui chose to pound on the door with her fists instead of using her card key.
“Kang Sajun, open the door!”
After several knocks, the door opened, revealing Kang Sajun, her friend of 13 years.
As always, he was shamelessly bare-chested, but at least he wore pants.
“…You’re here.”
His husky voice sounded gravelly.

Despite his overwhelming physique filling the doorway, his half-closed eyes were red from lack of sleep.
Taehui’s gaze on Sajun was icy, without a hint of sympathy.
“Hey, Kang Sajun. How many times have I told you not to mess with my Fridays?”
“If you didn’t want to run into me, you should’ve gone somewhere else.”
As Sajun brushed back the hair falling on his forehead, Taehui’s gaze followed his languid movements. Even his long and sleek fingers were a problem.
How can a man have such beautiful hands? She grumbled inwardly and shot back at him.
“Am I a criminal? What’s wrong with going where I want?”
When Taehui sharply questioned Sajun’s remark, the sly guy smoothly changed the subject.
“I had just fallen asleep, but woke up because of you.”
“Were you sleeping?”
Taehui snorted.

He’s selling medicine here. He wasn’t woken from sleep; he must’ve been tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
“I was about to fall asleep. Now that you’re here, read me a book.”
Taehui’s eyes fluttered in disbelief at his shameless lie, and she unbuttoned her coat with determination.
“Can’t you see? I dressed up so much for tonight.”
Her deep-necked, tight black dress showcased her slim yet curvy figure. Not just the dress, but her deeply made-up eyes, sparkling pale skin, glossy red lips, and wavy hair cascading down her waist.
So, her point was this.
She didn’t spend two hours getting pretty just to read boring books in a hotel room.
But seeing Sajun’s indifferent eyes, Taehui clamped her mouth shut.
Right, he doesn’t see me as a woman.
Realizing this anew, Taehui’s fingers lost their strength as she re-buttoned her coat.

Watching her alluring figure vanish behind the coat, Sajun spoke nonchalantly.
“You’re the one who neglected me for over two weeks with your busy excuse.”
“That’s because…!”
I’ve been feeling too weird lately.
Unable to finish her sentence, Taehui stared up at Sajun, even with her 165 cm height and 9 cm heels.
His towering height and well-proportioned physique were impressive.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
