Since I’d resolved to uncover the true identities of Father’s close aides at the hunting tournament, I couldn’t afford to relax. After all, it’s said that one must always be wary of those closest to them.

Father, as usual, hummed a tune absentmindedly and merely remarked, “It feels just like a picnic.”

‘That very innocence is Father’s charm, after all.’

While I bristled with suspicion and Father sang peacefully, the carriage sped swiftly to a small villa attached to the hunting grounds.

We were told we’d deliver a brief opening speech for the hunting tournament at the villa—Father’s own property—and later enjoy a banquet featuring the game hunted during the event.

Father led me to a room inside the villa and looked down at me affectionately.

“Rest well, my daughter, and come out when you’re ready.”

“Mm-hmm!”

“I’ll show you the hunt later.”

I waved my hand a few times toward Father.

“Shall I help you shower? There’s still some time before the hunting tournament begins!”

I shook my head vigorously from side to side.

There was no time for a shower.

I had to sit on the sofa in the most luxurious room of the villa and think hard.
