I'll Protect the Tyrant Daddy! (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 1
I was sitting on the earthen wall of our flower-filled house, waiting for Father.
My cheeks, white and plump like fluffy wheat bread; my twin braids, soft as a blanket; even my round, flat little legs—all soaked evenly in sunlight, and I felt happy.
‘Father bought meat! Meat!’
Waving my stubby, round limbs—no longer than a toilet paper roll—I grinned with delight.
‘Beef party today!’
Sitting on the wall, poking only my head out while waiting for Father, was boring for anyone. Besides, even though I’d been reincarnated and this was my second life, I’d received a penalty from the gods during rebirth, leaving my body far more underdeveloped than other children’s.
They say a healthy mind resides in a healthy body.
For me, it was the opposite. In exchange for my memories of reincarnation, I’d been born with a body even younger and more immature than others’.
Sadly, this immature body often negatively affected my mature mind. It meant that, very occasionally, my mind would sync with my childish physical age.
It was happening right now too.
I clenched my round little hands, about to puff out my cheeks—but stopped short.
‘Oh! That’s way too babyish!’
I tried hard to censor myself, but today, strangely, my body wouldn’t obey. The weather was so nice, and with the breeze brushing my cheeks, I even grew drowsy.
‘I really feel like a baby. I’m sleepy—I wish Father would hurry up and come.’
Besides, on a day like today, it was just too hard for a baby to fight off sleep…
On a day when the sunlight was languid, the air chilly, and my cheeks flushed pink, I dozed off on the wall.
How many hours had I slept like that?
“Little one.”
I blinked my eyes open quickly and looked ahead.
“Yes?”
I widened my round eyes and tilted my head. Knights armed with spears or swords surrounded our house, the small earthen wall, and me. Seeing their armor glinting in the light, I tilted my head again.
“Is there no adult here?”
“An adult?”
“Yes. The gentleman who lives here—is he not home?”
The gentleman who lives here… probably meant my Father.
Instinctively sensing danger, I lied.
“He went to work.”
“Might that gentleman be… dark-haired with blue eyes? Around thirty years old… perhaps?”
The knight spoke in a friendly tone.
His eyes flickered shadily—the same look scammers always had when swindling money from my Father—making me feel uneasy.
‘No matter how I think about it, they seem to be looking for Father. Suspicious…’
As for my Father—he was the purest, kindest man in the village…
A total pushover.
His heart was so soft that he’d give money to villagers under the guise of donations, work for free everywhere, and always wore a silly, carefree smile.
Just thinking of Father—who was so gentle he made me feel like a steamed bun with burst filling—sent a chill of dread through me.
‘Has Father finally gotten caught up in something big enough to bring scary knights running? Framed for someone else’s crime, maybe?’
Father was smart, but far too kind—he always ended up losing out. He’d even vouch for strangers sometimes.
Whenever that happened, I’d hold out a plump potato from our yard, charm them with cuteness, and get them to cancel the guarantee. Word had it I was the cutest child around here; when I’d flash my pleading eyes and ask if they could please cancel it, they’d all melt like soft-boiled eggs in ramen, pat my head, and vanish.
The question now was whether my charm would work on these knights too.
‘Will my cuteness work on them as well?’
I puffed out my cheeks—which had deflated like a squished cream bun from sighing—and said,
“I dunno. No one like that lives here.”
Then I used my ultimate sparkling-eye technique to look up at them.
The knight’s lips tightened upon meeting my gaze. Thinking it had failed, I squinted sideways—but the knight spoke.
“B-But you’re really cute.”
So my cuteness worked everywhere after all.
Smiling inwardly like a mastermind, I shamelessly replied,
“I know!”
“Um… um… Could I just hold your hand once…?”
Seeing the knight gape like a fool and slowly reach out his hand, I shook my head firmly.
Trending
“Nope.”
The knight snapped back to his senses, shook his head several times, then nudged the man beside him.
“What do we do now?”
“We came after hearing he was definitely here—this is bad.”
“Should we retreat for now? Come back tomorrow?”
Pretending not to hear them, I kicked my legs idly and thought,
‘Phew, looks like Father’s off the suspect list.’
The knights murmured among themselves, glancing at me occasionally… but that wasn’t important!
Pouting my lips and filling my eyes with determined sparkles, I thought,
‘Tonight, I’ll grill Father about what happened. If it’s serious, we’ll flee immediately—no choice.’
There’s always a reason why “Run away” became one of the Thirty-Six Stratagems.
When dangerous people appear, fleeing is the answer!
Just as I bit my lips, pondering my and Father’s future—
“Cien!”
…Oh no.
‘That’s our silly Father’s voice! Why so soon? I need to get rid of those knights!’
I widened my eyes and whipped my head toward the sound. Seeing my head turn, the knights turned theirs too.
“Cien! I bought meat…”
“Huh! Shh!”
I gasped sharply. Waving my hands frantically to shoo them away was just extra.
But Father ignored my emergency signal, narrowing his eyes. Then, swift as a swordmaster, he dashed over.
The problem was that Father’s steps were as fast as a swordmaster’s.
Though gentle as could be, his physical prowess was unmatched—thanks to his hard farm work, he had bulging pectorals.
‘Father running over looks like he’s threatening the knights!’
Provoking knights was bad—this was trouble.
Last time I’d nearly been bitten by a monstrous chicken, Father had shown superhuman strength.
Same today.
Thinking I was in danger, a resolute glint filled his innocent eyes.
‘Father’s so fast!’
In that perilous moment surrounded by knights, Father came running earnestly, black bag full of meat in hand.
Rushing over as if to protect me—the kindest, only ally I had in the world—our Father.
“Who are you?”
Father narrowed his eyes and asked sternly, gravely, seriously.
I sighed deeply.
‘Why come now, silly Father!’
Those knights might be extremely dangerous. I’d planned to brush them off with cuteness, but with him arriving so fast, I couldn’t save him.
Just as I was about to kick the knights in front of me—
“We greet you, First Prince of Mirmod, Lord Matthias Mirmod. We’ve come with word that it’s time to end your leisure and return.”
My foot, ready to kick, froze mid-air.
‘…Huh? What did you say? Mirmod?’
The Mirmod family.
A blight upon the empire, entangled in every kind of fraud, illegality, and wickedness.
A house that grew through crime—every member specialized in magic or swordsmanship, and committed crimes, including murder, without a second thought.
‘These knights must have poor eyesight and mistaken him. Mirmod? Scarier than tigers?’
I clenched my chubby fists, ready to shake my head. No! Our Father had nothing to do with the “Mi” in “Mirmod”! Just leave!
But right then—
Father asked gravely, as if it were obvious,
“End my leisure and return?”
At that moment, a bright blush spread across my pale cheeks.
He sounded so coolly composed—it felt as if Father truly were the Mirmod prince. Flustered, I blinked rapidly.

…Surprisingly, it seemed our Father really was the prince of that Mirmod family.
After the knights left, our humble countryside earthen house crumbled into dry dust and vanished.
And then…
Father and I were dragged into the strange, dangerous Mirmod ducal castle.
The ducal castle looked extremely gloomy and eerie.
My little head struggled just to process the fact that Father wasn’t actually a simple country farmer.
So, to sum it up—
Apparently, our Father had been the first prince of the Mirmod family. He’d been exiled from the duchy for unspeakable reasons, but now the exile had finally been lifted—or so they claimed.
‘Our impossibly kind Father is from the Mirmod family? But Mirmod is the shadowy villain house from the novel! This can’t be real!’
This was the world of the novel I’d halfway read: . Though it told the beautiful love story between the Crown Prince and Saint Melodia, political intrigue often appeared too, given the Crown Prince was the protagonist.
In that novel, the clear-cut villains with strong presence were undoubtedly the Mirmod family—the Crown Prince’s archrivals. A house that employed every dangerous scheme: fraud, wickedness, violence, gambling… The classic villain family everyone feared and revered.
Moreover, the Mirmod family was constantly embroiled in bloody internal wars. To become heir, to become duke, to seize dangerous yet powerful magical artifacts and relics—they killed each other.
A place where news of someone dying arrived daily—and where that was perfectly normal.
Ultimately, the villainous family destined to be annihilated by the Crown Prince.
Here’s the problem:
In the novel, our Father’s name—“Matthias”—never even appeared.
Which meant… our Father was an extra who got killed off without ever showing up?
‘Ha! Someone as kind as Father doesn’t fit a villain family at all. Then why was he summoned…?’
Precisely because he didn’t fit, Father might have chosen exile to the countryside himself. After all, he wasn’t the type to become heir—too gentle to fight a succession war, the kind of person who’d readily step aside and cheer if someone else wanted to be heir.
‘Could they have brought Father here to eliminate potential threats?’
Our cozy earthen house, where Father and I had lived together, was already gone.
Now, we were rootless wanderers with nowhere to go.
If villains tried to harm our Father in this situation…
An emergency alarm blared in my head.
Just like in the original story, naive people like us would surely end up as villain fodder if we let our guard down.
I worried so much my pale cheeks turned ashen.
‘Can Father and I even survive?’
Endless worries burrowed into my mind—I couldn’t eat or sleep properly.
Father, ever perceptive, noticed my state right away.
“What are you thinking about, my daughter?”
“Huuu…”
I sighed deeply once more and looked around.
This place seemed like a meeting hall for the villainous family—quite gloomy and scary.
‘Are those skulls scattered on the floor? Must be my imagination. Definitely just my imagination.’
Father sat nonchalantly on a frightening chair adorned with skull patterns, pulled me onto his lap, hugged me close, and patted my shoulder.
“It’s alright, my daughter. You must be very tired. Let’s finish talking quickly and go to sleep.”
Father chuckled foolishly and patted my head.
Survival was the issue now! Yet here he was, entering this dangerous house and still acting cheerful and carefree.
‘This is unbelievable!’
To suddenly end up in a position where silly Father and I had to worry about survival—how frustrating and tragic! I’d only been excited about catching crayfish today and eating pork tomorrow.
‘But since it’s come to this, there’s nothing to be done.’
I slumped my shoulders and lightly smacked Father’s arm—which held me on his lap—with my tiny hands.
“You’re here, right, Father?”
“Hmm?”
Father made a warm chuckle and fiddled with my twin braids.
He’d braided them prettily for me this morning, but they’d loosened slightly entering this house, hurting my feelings.
I sighed long and leaned my small body against Father’s broad chest.
“Don’t worry. I’ll protect you, Father!”
This place felt like a treacherous land saturated with poison—villains could appear at any moment.

My plump arms, round like champion sausages, began trembling like aspen leaves—but there was no helping it.
I glared sharply into the air.
Once that curtain parted, a villain from the family would surely appear.
Then, I’d have no choice but to protect Father.
‘Step aside, you scary, dangerous monster villains! I’ll protect my Father!’
Just as I was psyching myself up, Father tightened his arms around me and whispered,
“You don’t need to protect me, Cien.”
His voice carried a faint trace of laughter.
“I’ll protect you, my daughter.”
His thick, muscular arms encircling me and his hands—covered in unexplained scars—looked quite tough, but considering Father’s soft personality, they didn’t seem very intimidating. My soft, chubby arms felt more reliable somehow?
I let out a huge sigh.
I’m truly worried about the future of silly Father and me…

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Hmm, it’s a strange story; she didn’t explain her past or tell the story clearly, but it’s obvious that her father isn’t who she thinks he is.
