The moment I said that, the blindfold covering my eyes was roughly pulled away.
“What am I doing.”
The one who answered my question was Axel.
I looked at him, chewing my lifeless lips. He seemed somewhat uneasy. Judging from him constantly scratching the door, it seemed like it.
“He’s definitely hiding something from me.”
If that’s the case, I had no choice but to play along appropriately.
I stared at them intently, tilting my head silently.
“Okay, then… You know. Actually, I’m curious about something.”
“Will you tell me?”
I looked at Axel, whose eyes were twinkling, and blinked my eyebrows.
‘No, he probably won’t tell me.’
Axel Mirmord clearly wasn’t in his right mind.
I had thought about gently turning the conversation around and extracting the information I wanted, but it seemed futile since he wouldn’t understand even if I did.
So, I decided to dismiss the conversation of the aristocratic etiquette. Instead, I asked sharply.
“It’s nothing. Why did you kidnap me?”
“To kill you.”
Axel chuckled again. I stared at him without being intimidated by his laughter.
“Do you want to become a Mirmord Duke? Why go to such lengths?”
In response to my words, he suddenly grinned and gnashed his teeth. His face turned reddish, and veins appeared on his temples.
He roughly unbuttoned his shirt, seemingly to vent his anger. I also noticed that he was tearing open the buttons on his shirt.
I looked at him again with a questioning gaze.
“Siyan Mirmord. You really don’t know anything. You’re pretending to be innocent.”
A slowly building anger was evident.
And in an instant, something happened.
In the ten years trapped in the demon world, Axel, whose eyes seemed to have gone mad, raised his hand, stared at me, and then grabbed my throat.
My breath was instantly cut off. I tried to move my body while struggling to breathe, but Axel strangled my throat like crushing an insignificant bug.
“Ugh, ugh.”
After bending my body as much as I could, I tried to lower his arm, but failed.
Axel showed a completely different attitude from the frailty of a sick person. I gasped with all my strength to breathe, but I couldn’t open my mouth any wider.
He really seemed like he was going to kill me.
At the same moment.
Matthias Mirmord, looking at Siyan’s empty seat, grinned and ground his teeth.
The moonlight pouring in from the window gently illuminated Siyan’s bed.
In the usual scenario, Siyan would have been lying there, cute sleep-talking, but instead, only a rustling white blanket was spread out.
As I walked outside, following Siyan’s traces, Ted followed beside him.
“I’ll accept the punishment.”
“Even if you receive punishment, it won’t be good for me.”
“…….,” Matthias retorted sarcastically.
“You overestimate yourself.”
Matthias’s complexion turned noticeably cold.
As Ted twisted his face in pain, Matthias spoke with a sunny tone.
“Even if you die and disappear, it won’t mean Siyan is gone.”
“…My life is worthless compared to Siyan’s safety.”
It was only a few hours.
However, during that time, Matthias Mirmord’s mind shattered into pieces.
He could clearly sense the unsettling atmosphere surrounding Siyan.
‘Dad! I’ll protect you!’
The affectionate voice from childhood echoed like a hallucination.
Matthias narrowed his eyes, covering his ears, then uncovering them.
Siyan was gone, and he had no time for sentimentality. Now was the time to become composed.
“Go to the imperial palace.”
“…….,”
“Well, Matthias, what about you…?”
He looked around Siyan’s empty spot with his fingertips.
In his hand, there was a small sphere. It was a magical tool that allowed one to feel remnants of power.
Through it, remnants of divine power flowed in.
“Go to the temple.”
Matthias uncomfortably threw the sphere he held upside down.
Ted, who was watching Matthias’s stern expression, suddenly spoke up.
“Uh… Which… temple are you referring to?”
“The central temple. You go to the imperial palace.”
Meeting Matthias’s gaze, Ted bowed and replied.
“As you wish.”
Ted’s trembling voice and hunched shoulders met Matthias’s indifferent gaze.
Not only that, even the fierce-looking advisors and aides behind Matthias were so confused that they looked at each other.
Although the Mirmord family had committed all sorts of atrocities, there was an unwritten rule not to touch certain places.
That rule was, ‘Places formed by extraterritorial jurisdiction are left untouched.’
Even if the Mirmords committed all kinds of villainy by capturing the capital and antagonizing the temple, they did not forcibly control the central temple with military force.
This was similar to not directly attacking the mansion while antagonizing the imperial palace and the temple.
Therefore, the implied meaning behind Matthias’s words, ‘I’ll go to the central temple,’ was nothing short of breaking the implicit agreement between the imperial palace, the temple, and the Mirmord family.
At Matthias’s words, everyone gathered here could not help but shudder.
“Matthias, um, what do you mean…?”
Matthias, as if there was no time to spare, raised his head, tying his gloves a few times. In his hands was a portable magical tool with severe side effects.
“Why, is it a problem?”
Instead of offering advice that it was a problem, Ted bowed even deeper.
“Understood.”
That’s when Matthias was about to move.
In the distance, a blue light began to flow. Everyone stared into the air with narrowed eyes.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
