It was the sound of a wild boar’s tusks. We all were surprised, looking beyond the trees.
“…Leonhardt?”
While Leonhardt was sprinting at full speed, he suddenly began making Tarzan-like sounds.
“Aaah !”
“Why are you like this?”
“Aaaahhh!”
It was an enormous scream.
As if trying to block something we absolutely shouldn’t hear, I was surprised and looked at his waving hair.
Everyone was stunned, unable to speak, and in that moment, Leonhardt arrived right in front of us.
I looked at him in bewilderment and asked, “What, what is it?”
At that moment, Leonhardt quickly gestured towards Acid. It seemed like he was mouthing something like, ‘Quickly, quickly! We’re in danger!’ He looked bewildered, but Acid hurriedly blocked my way and said, “Th-that! So, please calm down for now.”
“What’s going on?”
“Lord Leonhardt! Do you have something to say?”
“Uh!”
Leonhardt, with his eyebrows fluttering, rushed towards me, attempting to grab my wrist and chin, but Acid pushed him away.
He looked unfairly frustrated, glaring across his mask. “Ah, it’s time for sword training. I need to have a chat with Martin!” he said, throwing a glance towards Acid, who seemed flustered. Ignoring Martin’s discomfort, Leonhardt muttered, “…I’m going to take Martin with me!”
“Alright. Train well with Martin, Leonhardt!”
“Sure, understood. Goodbye.”
Although Leonhardt’s demeanor seemed quite forced, we couldn’t interfere with his training time.
Martin, looking uncomfortable, mumbled, “Go, come back. What about the story you were telling earlier about your father?”
“Ack! Let’s go quickly! Martin, we need to attend the class!”
Martin and Leonhardt tightly held hands, their eyebrows fluttering, and they dashed away.
“Uhh. Classes are important, then.”
I smiled with a hidden sense of joy.
‘I hope they work hard, grow up to be excellent Mirmod swordsmen!’
After all, isn’t it a student’s duty to attend classes?
Although it may seem like I’m only devoted to bringing talents to the academy, I’m actually working hard in my studies too, you know?
With a proud heart, I waved happily at them.
After Leonhardt and Martin swiftly disappeared for their sword training, Burger left for the math class during afterschool hours.
With a joyful heart, I wished Burger a bright future too.
Eventually, I ended up going home with Acid alone.
The muscular servant girls, after making a fuss when they saw only Acid and me in the carriage instead of the horse, ended up riding on top of the horse.
“Hoho, we have a horse riding certification.”
“…Even though you’re servants, why do you have a horse riding certification?”
“That’s right.”
“Hmm, but you’re nobles…?”
At my skeptical remark, Deadly Sister clenched her whip and gave a meaningful look.
“The aristocratic world is a survival of the fittest. The weak cannot survive!”
The Bench Sister next to her reluctantly nodded in agreement.
“…Cannot survive!”
…That’s how, unintentionally, only Acid and I were left inside the carriage.
On the way in the carriage, Acid, who had been silent, spoke up.
“You recruited Burger and Martin as talents.”
“Yeah!”
Feeling like Acid had calmed down, I added with a grin, “Acid is my talent too, and I really like Acid!”
“Burger and Martin, you’ve recruited those two as talents.”
“Yeah!”
I glanced at the now calm Acid and added a word.
“Acid is also my talent, and I really like Acid!”
Saying that, I calculated that Acid’s mood would loosen up. However, unexpectedly, Acid brought up a different topic.
“Lord Cyan.”
“Huh?”
“I thought, if you’re only taking care of others, I might feel hurt. If that’s the case…”
“…Hm?”
“You don’t have to do that.”
Acid smiled warmly.
“I like Lord Cyan. Since I like you, there’s no need for you to go out of your way to treat me well just because you’re on Lord Cyan’s side.”
“……Huh?”
“I hope Lord Cyan doesn’t labor emotionally. Every time I see you consider others’ feelings… it’s a bit…”
No one has ever said such words to me before.
I even thought it was natural for me to make an effort to understand others’ feelings to gain their favor.
“It hurts. Lord Cyan is precious just as you are. Everyone can’t help but like Lord Cyan. You don’t have to make an effort.”
“……. ”
I shuddered at that smile. It was genuinely innocent, like a blooming magnolia flower.
‘Many people look pretty when they smile, why…’
When others smiled like that, it didn’t affect me much. However, strangely, when Acid smiled like that, it felt like ants were tickling at the tips of my toes.
Even now, that sensation seemed to flow through the edges of my body.
I casually turned my gaze away, biting my finger.
“……Does Acid like me too?”
“Of course.”
I smiled widely and continued my words.
With the calculation that if I said this, Acid would be extremely pleased, my heart pounded.
“Then, I like Acid too!”
Acid quietly nodded at me.
It was like a nod from a ghost.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
