Karan abruptly sat up.
He immediately went to the bathroom and washed himself.
Despite the still chilly weather, he turned on the cold water to cool off the heat.
The cold water streamed down his body. Karan meticulously and carefully washed himself from head to toe.
Ever since meeting Elise, his shower time had extended.
“You’re up early.”
Hartwin greeted him with a sleepy face as Karan emerged, shaking his head.
It was still before sunrise.
“Go back to sleep.”
Hartwin must have had a hard time yesterday.
He was left to deal with the aftermath of the “gift” Chase sent to Karan.
While punishing them was routine, erasing the traces must have been tough.
‘Was it hard to punish without leaving any traces?’
Regardless, knowing his subordinate’s tiring night, Karan intended to give Hartwin a day off.
“I tried to sleep more, but your bustling woke me up.”
Hartwin and Karan’s rooms were connected by a thin door.
It was so that Hartwin could respond immediately if something happened to Karan.
Karan, who usually moved silently, relaxed in his room, and the noise woke Hartwin.
“Be careful.”
“That’s not what I mean. Aren’t you tired? You have to attend the banquet tonight in that stiff uniform.”
Hartwin pushed up his drooping eyelids and placed a kettle on the stove.
Lately, he was engrossed in mimicking Bedrocan nobility.
The morning tea was an extension of this imitation.
Karan, though not fond of this mockery, never refused the tea Hartwin offered.
“What time is it?”
After taking a sip of the tea Hartwin prepared, Karan asked.
“It’s 6 o’clock.”
“That’s all?”
Karan glanced out the window and gulped down the tea as it cooled off a bit.
“I need to check the time.”
“Yes, it’s 6:05.”
Weird. Why is time passing so slowly?
Karan placed the empty cup on the table and stood up.
“Where are you going?”
“Nowhere. Going to work out.”
Karan took off his shirt and started doing handstand push-ups right there.
He slowly bent his arms.
Hartwin enjoyed the tranquility of dawn while Karan did push-ups in an inverted position.
One, two, three, four…
“Prince, you’re too fast.”
Hartwin stopped Karan, who was doing push-ups at a speed not achievable in a normal stance.
Karan was drenched in sweat, rendering his recent shower futile.
“Too fast, huh?”
Thud. Karan’s feet hit the floor, and he shook his hands dry.
“So, what time is it now?”
“It’s 6:30. Do you have something today? Why do you keep asking the time? Do you have a meeting?”
“Elise.”
“Ahh…”
Hartwin understood all of Karan’s actions with just that name.
Hartwin put away the tea cup and headed to his room.
“Where are you going?”
“To sleep. If I stay here, I’ll become a victim of time.”
Hartwin’s action was very wise.
That morning, some of the finest warriors in Bedroca were exhausted from sparring with Karan.
“Huff, so what time is it now?”
After making the tenth warrior surrender, Karan asked.
Huff, puff, one of the warriors, gasping and leaning on the floor, answered.
“It’s 10 o’clock.”
Karan grinned. It was about time to leave.
“You all did well.”
He hurried back to his room. After a thorough shower and dressing up with the help of his attendants, he arrived at Elise’s mansion at 12 o’clock.
He couldn’t even count how many times he had changed his hairstyle. In the end, he reverted to the original style.
Karan fiddled with his hair.
Karan wanted to make a good impression on Elise until the very end.
“Should I ring the bell, Your Highness?”
The attendant, sitting next to the coachman, opened the door and asked.
“No need for that. Instead, move the carriage to the shade of the trees. It’s too conspicuous here.”
Karan’s visit to Elise’s mansion was driven by his desire to see her sooner, not to disrupt her time.
He hoped Elise, who must have been tired from yesterday, would rest enough, prepare calmly, and come out.
Enduring the anxious waiting to see her was solely his responsibility.
‘The longing to see her is probably only on my side.’
Bitter yet not anxious because she promised. Elise was not someone who took promises lightly.
Waiting with a promise was not pain, but anticipation.
Time moved slowly, yet steadily, and so did his anticipation.
However, around 1 PM, Karan’s anticipation turned to anxiety.
Negative thoughts began to cascade.
Did she forget the appointment?
Was yesterday’s suggestion to join the festival a joke?
Did he take her joke too seriously?
“Your Highness, how about lunch?”
It was the fourth time the attendant asked. Karan had even skipped breakfast.
The attendant had been ordered by Hartwin to take good care of Karan, so he couldn’t let him skip lunch too.
“No need for lunch.”
His cool tone sent shivers down the spine. The stark change in atmosphere from just a few hours ago silenced the attendant.
Even the nearly novice attendant knew not to disturb Karan in such a state.
“When His Highness speaks unusually coldly, act as if you’re dead and don’t think, speak, or do anything.”
“How can I tell? He’s always taciturn.”
“Your body will tell you.”
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
