Yuricien, who had become the center of a commotion that erupted since morning, was only able to meet Edna and Yeriel after ten o’clock.

“What? You’re way too late.”

“We even dozed off while waiting for you.”

Edna and Yeriel grumbled. Truthfully, showing up unannounced at dawn without even making an appointment was itself impolite, yet Yuricien didn’t reproach them for it—because what Edna and Yeriel had brought was none other than an invitation to the party hosted by Lady Stebain.

In truth, Yuricien had intended to simply send Edna and Yeriel away today. But Benjamin stopped him.

[It would be wise to show your face at Lady Stebain’s party. It’s a gathering where not only high society but also key political figures mostly congregate.]

[If it’s just an invitation, we could obtain one through other channels. There’s no need to attend with them.]

[But even so, you’ll inevitably have to appear at the party and face them. And above all, using and discarding them wouldn’t weigh on your conscience, would it?]

Yuricien almost spoke up, questioning how one could feel no guilt about using and discarding others, but he closed his mouth. After all, this connection was destined to end. Just as they had exploited Windsor countless times for their selfish gains, Yuricien was merely using them in return.

Adel alone had been unaware of this publicly known fact. Edna, who had concealed it for her own amusement, was hardly blameless—but neither was Lord Stebain’s son particularly kind, clinging to his mother’s skirts while giving Adel false hope.

[Surely, watching Adel’s expression in that situation would have been the main entertainment of this party. But Adel is already gone from this world.]

It hadn’t been revealed yet. If they disclosed how Adel died and who discovered it, Greta would focus her surveillance on Benjamin, making it harder to find gaps in her defenses. Yet if they didn’t attend this party, someone would surely grow suspicious.

‘What’s truly sad is that it’s been quite a while since Adel went missing, yet no one has even tried to look for her.’

Not even Edna and Yeriel, who were now facing Yuricien.
