Benjamin didn’t even pretend to consider it out of politeness. Fearing Yuricien might try to correct herself with an “Ah, I was just joking,” he fully utilized the same skill that had once carried him up to the third floor of the Imperial Palace terrace, dashing straight across the mansion.

Benjamin stood precariously atop the terrace railing and brushed off the hand that had gripped the tree several times.

“Did you wait?”

Yuricien nearly blurted out, “How could I wait when there was no time to wait?” but managed to swallow the words just in time. She opened the terrace door and slipped her feet into the slippers left outside.

“It’s such a short distance… Why come so dangerously?”

“Wasting time on such a short distance would be a shame.”

Benjamin hopped down from the railing as if it were nothing. Leaning loosely against the very railing he’d just stood on, he reached out his hand toward her.

“I won’t go inside today either.”

“But I never said I’d let you in, did I?”

“No, but I will soon.”

“You’re awfully confident.”

“I’ve already won Windsor’s heart—what’s so hard about entering my lover’s room?”

“Ahahaha.”

Yuricien laughed, charmed by the word “lover,” and clasped his hand. Perhaps because of her light attire, the warmth radiating from his body as she nestled against him felt unusually intense.
