The visibly strained relationship with Seyard provided the perfect, plausible reason for Kisa—who had until now stayed cooped up in her hotel room—to suddenly venture outside.

Perhaps because they had witnessed the duke and duchess’s conflict outside the hall that day, the servants, seeing Kisa’s abrupt transformation, merely took care not to upset her and showed no signs of particular suspicion.

Though Kisa hadn’t met him in person recently and thus couldn’t be certain, the fact that he imposed no restrictions on her actions suggested Seyard felt much the same.
