I Will No Longer Live As Your Villainess (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 1
Prologue
“His Majesty always cherished me so dearly and loved me.”
“I don’t know why you’re speaking in the past tense, but my love for you hasn’t changed—not now, nor ever. So come back with me, Lorencia.”
Lorencia couldn’t believe his words of love, knowing full well that the desperate look in his eyes and his sweet voice were nothing but lies.
“Your Majesty, I have no intention of returning to the Empire.”
“I came all this way myself, and you still refuse? Lorencia, you’ve always been such an obedient child of mine. Why are you acting like this?”
“No matter what you say, I can no longer stay by Your Majesty’s side.”
You handed me a cup filled with poison without a second thought.
Foolishly, I drank it gladly—even though I knew it was poisoned—believing firmly that this was love.
“I won’t leave.”
“Lorencia, why must you be so stubborn?”
“It’s not stubbornness.”
Silence stretched out after Lorencia’s reply. Seeing that the silence wasn’t working in his favor, his expression began to betray his growing anxiety.
It was Lorencia who broke the silence first.
“I cannot return to the Empire because I’ve found a future in which I can survive.”
Not to receive a poisoned cup from you—but for the one future where I can hand you the poisoned cup myself!
“Your Majesty may not realize it, but to reach this moment, I’ve sacrificed something far more precious than my own life.”
“What on earth are you talking about? ‘Created’ this moment? What sacrifice are you referring to! Surely not…?”
What could you possibly think is more precious than my life?
“Lorencia… you didn’t lose your ability to see the future, did you?”
The foolish man thought foresight—the ability to see the future—was the sacrifice greater than my life.
“If I lost my foresight, would you believe that’s why I can no longer be of use to Your Majesty and thus won’t return to the Empire?”
“Don’t joke about this.”
“Do you even realize what your face looks like right now? You seem like someone who’s lost everything.”
“What are you saying! Lorencia!”
Heaving a deep sigh, he slowly stepped closer, his expression clearly revealing his thoughts.
“I abandoned my power just to survive. I can no longer be of help to Your Majesty. Please return to the Isther Empire as you are.”
“Even if you’ve lost your ability, my love for you remains unchanged.”
“Did you just say… love… to me?”
“Yes. I love you, Lorencia. My Loa.”
Once, I believed in the sweet love he spoke of. And the pain I received in return was twice as great as the trust I’d placed in him.
“I mean it. Come back with me, and become my only rain.”
“A lowly bastard like me cannot become your rain.”
“Don’t worry. You’re the only one who will ever be my rain, Lorencia.”
“But… the love I believe in…”
To keep her trembling lips from showing, Lorencia bit down hard on her lower lip. She couldn’t suppress the faint smile tugging at the corners of her mouth as she prepared to tell him what came next.
“I believe it shares the same context as delusion, Your Majesty.”
Until my very last breath, I believed in his love. That’s why I never questioned my own death.
His final words were enough to shatter the very self who had overcome even the fear of death, all because she believed in his love.
Love will one day make someone cry, and sincerity can drive a person mad.
With those words, my death suddenly made perfect sense. And I realized: dying for love is no reason to die at all.
“Your Majesty’s words of love keep sounding like, ‘Don’t delude yourself.’”
“Lorencia, how could you…”
“I already told you.”
Lorencia spoke with utterly satisfied delight as she watched the mask of a desperate man pleading for love slowly peel away from his face.
“I chose the path that lets me live.”

A compelling voice rang out from the priest clad in pure white vestments.
“In the name of Goddess Ella, we beseech your protection. Grant us your sacred power, O holy goddess, that we may overcome the wickedness of evil men.”
At the priest’s nod, the knights approached Lorencia. She struggled and resisted, trying her hardest to escape as they seized her by both arms and dragged her before the priest. Her long hair, flowing down to her waist, began to be cut away.
Terror at the approaching death made her whole body shrink inward. Her teeth chattered involuntarily, and her jaw trembled visibly.
“Lorencia.”
Lorencia, lost in shock, locked eyes with the man standing over her from his chair, nestled between the priest and the knights.
“Your Imperial Majesty Luans…”
Emperor Luans, who had merely watched Lorencia suffer, rose slowly from his seat and approached her. His face looked pained and devastated to anyone who saw it. But Lorencia saw something else—joy gleamed in his eyes. Instinctively, she lowered her head.
“Don’t bow your head, my Loa.”
Luans placed his hand under Lorencia’s chin and gently lifted her gaze.
“Your Majesty! You mustn’t touch the witch so carelessly!”
The priest cried out urgently to Luans.
“It’s fine. This witch loves me too much to curse or kill me.”
Tears began streaming down Lorencia’s cheeks at Luans’s words. Luans stared silently at the weeping Lorencia. Only then did she understand for certain: he had abandoned her.
“I have no choice, Lorencia. I can’t save you—you’re a witch.”
“I’m not a witch.”
“Lorencia, how could you possibly not be a witch? Think about it—your wicked deeds… You killed my entire family, and not content with that, you started a war and caused countless deaths.”
“I only did it to help Your Majesty…”
Lorencia tried to speak, but before she could finish, the priest stepped close and poured water over her head.
“Your Majesty, step back! You might fall under the witch’s spell! Though I’ve sprinkled holy water, so she shouldn’t have any power left, she’s still dangerous.”
“Exactly. She’s a wicked being—no one knows what lies she might spew next.”
At the knights’ words, Luans stepped backward. One of the priests struck Lorencia’s face and head multiple times with hands drenched in holy water.
Lorencia squeezed her eyes shut. Her mouth split open, blood trickling out. With every blow, she could feel her skin swelling more and more. The pain was immense—but far more painful was Luans’s betrayal, playing with her heart as he had.
“It was you who said you’d die for me, Lorencia.”
Luans whispered softly into Lorencia’s ear before rising from his place.
“Then I trust the Papal Inquisition will conclude the witch trial properly.”
“Yes, Your Imperial Majesty. Once again, on behalf of the Papal Inquisition, I thank you sincerely for reporting this witch in the name of Goddess Ella. We shall never forget this act.”
“Reporting a witch is only natural—even if she were a woman I once loved…”
Luans gazed at Lorencia with a heartbreakingly wistful expression, more sorrowful than anyone else could muster.
“In my next life, I shall pray in Goddess Ella’s name that she be reborn as someone who is not a witch.”
The moment Luans left, Lorencia’s torture began. The severe torment left her unable to speak, and her consciousness grew hazy. Soon after, she was dragged before the tribunal composed solely of the Grand Pontiff and cardinals. They all declared Lorencia a wicked sorceress destined to be remembered in infamy.
“I am not a witch!”
“If you’ve reached this age without even beginning your menarche, you’re surely a witch.”
“To declare someone a witch merely for not having started menstruation is outrageous! I’m innocent—I am not a witch!”
Lorencia pleaded, but no one listened.
“Not menstruating means your body cannot conceive—and that is clear proof you’re a wicked witch cursed by Goddess Ella!”
“Grand Pontiff, we mustn’t kill the witch recklessly or we risk her curse. We should imprison her.”
Lorencia was locked in a pitch-black dungeon. She was relieved at first, thinking at least she wouldn’t be tortured—but that relief was short-lived. No water, food, or guards ever came. She wailed from hunger. Her eyelids grew heavier, and she lost all strength to act. Her whole body felt as leaden as a block of metal. Amid her fading consciousness, the only thing that came to mind wasn’t Luans—the man she’d trusted and loved—but a steaming hot bowl of ‘potato soup.’
‘How did it come to this? Where did it all go wrong?’
[This is the timeline separator]Luans was the only person in the world who truly cared for Lorencia. From the start, he had taken genuine pleasure in looking after her. Having never received such kindness from anyone in her life, Lorencia always felt her heart brim with happiness whenever Luans showed her care. But when had it changed? When had that happiness stopped lingering in her heart…?
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
