“But with the disappearance of the monsters, and the appearance of fairies… Please tell me in detail.”
Teishar asked Evan and Amelin, who were outside the carriage, what they saw on Lorencia’s palm, but they said they couldn’t see anything.
Lorencia tilted her head. She had never seen fairies since she was born, and even in her previous future life, she had never seen fairies at all. So she pondered how to accept this current situation.
[Child of the Goddess Ella.]“Lord Coa. Please call me Roa.”
[Alright. Roa, you can also comfortably call me Coa.]“Okay. Coa.”
[Child of the Goddess Ella. I’m sorry to interrupt your intimate time with the black serpent of the earth. But I have a request, and I’d appreciate it if you could hear me out.]“A request?”
[It’s an important matter for us fairies.]“Please tell me.”
[Please save our queen.]“Save her, you say?”
Coa flew up onto Lorencia’s palm, trembling his body and wings.
[Please. Roa. Only the child of the Goddess Ella can save the queen.]Coa, clinging to her fingertip, cried out desperately.
[This is the timeline separator]“But Roa. How far do we need to go in?”
Lorencia conveyed to Teishar what she had heard from Coa. The Fairy Queen Titania is sleeping in the water of life, and only the child of the Goddess Ella can awaken the queen. Upon hearing the story, Teishar naturally followed Lorencia’s words that she wanted to help the fairy Coa.
[Tell the serpent that going up to that tree ahead is enough.]“He says we only need to go up to the tree ahead, Ter.”
Lorencia raised her finger and pointed to the tree Coa mentioned.
[I’m sorry. If I had the power, I would have directly opened the door connecting to the fairy forest…]“No, Lord Coa.”
As they got closer to the tree, Coa’s worried expression deepened.
“It’ll be alright, Lord Coa.”
[Thank you. Child of the Goddess Ella.]Around the tree were densely grown, unruly thorn bushes. Teishar and Lorencia approached and examined the thorn bushes. The finger-length thorns protruding were sure to cause great injury even with the slightest graze.
“The Fairy Queen is inside these thorn bushes, right?”
The wind began to blow. The thorny branches clattered against each other, making an eerie sound as they swayed. No matter how much they looked, there was absolutely no entrance or exit visible through the thorn branches.
“How do we get in?”
[No tree or flower on the earth will harm a young tree.]“A young tree?”
[A young tree refers to Roa, the child of the Goddess Ella.]Lorencia slipped out of Teishar’s arms and approached the thorn bushes even closer. Then, the menacing thorns that had been boasting began to move little by little, creating an entrance.
“Ter.”
“Yes. Roa.”
“We need to go in through here.”
“I will accompany you.”
“Lord Coa. Can Ter come in with me too?”
[If Roa wants, I’ll allow the black serpent of the earth to come along, but only up to a certain point.]“Understood.”
Lorencia walked into the entrance created by the thorn bushes, tightly holding Teishar’s hand. As the two walked in, the thorn bushes began to block the entrance again. Evan and Amelin, who were watching, prayed.
Please let the two return safely.
[This is the timeline separator]Where could it be? How much further do they need to walk in? Lorencia couldn’t gauge how far they had walked. It was the same for Teishar. It felt like walking through an endless maze.
“Roa. Are you alright?”
“Yes.”
“If your legs hurt, please tell me right away.”
“And if I do?”
“I will carry you.”
[The black serpent of the earth is so cheesy.]At Coa’s words, Lorencia laughed awkwardly. In fact, she was a little scared when walking through the entrance created by the thorn bushes. It felt eerie not knowing where it would end.
[We’re almost there now. Roa.]At the words that they were almost there, Lorencia looked ahead. A bright green light began to appear.
[I’ll say it once more. Welcome back to your homeland. Roa.]“Homeland?”
Lorencia couldn’t help but exclaim at the sight she was seeing for the first time. She never imagined that behind the thorn bushes, there would be such a beautiful flower field of vivid colors.
“It’s pretty. I’ve never seen a sight like this before.”
As a gentle breeze blew, the flower petals beautifully scattered. The fluttering petals softly landed on the babbling brook.
A smile naturally formed on Lorencia’s face at the flower petals floating on the water’s surface and the warm scenery unfolding before her eyes. It was the same for Teishar standing behind her.
“It’s a beautiful place, but…”
Teishar carefully examined the surroundings. It was certainly a beautiful place that seemed to have popped out of a fairy tale, but strangely, an eerie feeling came from far away.
Lorencia followed behind Coa and walked forward. After walking in a little, an enormous tree that seemed to reach the sky began to come into view.
But.
“The tree…”
The more clearly the tree’s appearance could be seen, the more Lorencia’s face turned pale.
[It’s the tree of life.]“The tree of life?”
Lorencia looked up at the huge tree from bottom to top.
“What in the world is that black smoke…”
[We call that miasma.]Black smoke was enveloping the tree. It was as if it was on fire. If one were to actually see the entrance to the demon realm, the tree before their eyes would probably be it.
[Fairies are born from the tree of life. But ever since the tree of life was contaminated, no more fairies have been born. And the fairies tainted by that miasma have continued to turn into monsters and die at the hands of humans. Please, I beg you. Purify the tree of life. Roa. If the tree of life is revived, the queen will awaken too.]Coa’s eyes filled with tears as he desperately grasped Lorencia’s finger. Lorencia smiled while wiping Coa’s tears with her pinky finger.
Lorencia looked up at the tree. The tree was certainly large and grand. But the amount of miasma enveloping it was as immense as the tree’s size.
“Roa.”
“Yes.”
“The miasma flowing from that tree has a similar energy to the miasma of monsters.”
Teishar had been unable to even comprehend the reason why monsters kept appearing. But now, looking at the huge tree before their eyes, it seemed he could understand the reason.
“My father said that just the existence of the child of the Goddess Ella prevents monsters from appearing. I think that might be related to the situation before our eyes.”
“Ter. I have a strange feeling.”
Lorencia didn’t feel at all that the tree surrounded by the threatening miasma was dangerous. Rather, she wanted to approach it even more. She was clearly thinking it was dangerous, but strangely, it didn’t feel dangerous. Instead, she felt it was only to this extent.
Slowly raising her arm, Lorencia grasped her amethyst necklace and closed her eyes.
Teishar’s voice rang in her ears. These were the words Teishar had said to her when he came to save her as she was dying in prison at the age of 29. What could be the duty and obligation of the child of the Goddess Ella? Lorencia slowly opened her eyes and then closed them again.
The sound of water droplets falling could be heard in her ears. When Lorencia opened her eyes again, she was startled. Right before her eyes, she saw herself at the age of 29 standing in front of the huge tree surrounded by miasma, and Teishar standing guard behind her.
‘The same place, but 10 years later?’
Lorencia raised her head and looked up at the tree. Unlike 10 years ago, the tree 10 years later had all its branches broken, and some of its roots were completely rotten, filling the ground with miasma.
Lorencia quietly watched the future 10 years later.
‘A dream from 10 years ago?’
Lorencia’s mind went blank at the words of her 29-year-old self. A dream from 10 years ago means…
‘Could it be?’
Was her 29-year-old self also seeing her past self?
Her 29-year-old self walked up to the tree and reached out her hand. A purple crystal orb began to form above her outstretched hand. As the light from the purple crystal orb spread, the miasma embedded in the ground and tree slowly began to disappear.
As soon as the explosion of light occurred, Lorencia tightly closed her eyes.
[Little tree. Thank you for saving me.]Feeling the light subside, Lorencia opened her eyes, and just as she was about to look at the tree…
“Roa. What’s the matter?”
“I saw my amethyst orb.”
It was the sight of her 29-year-old self, 10 years later, taking out the amethyst orb in front of the tree right now. She was startled by the sight of the amethyst orb being summoned into her hand along with light.
She finally got to see the complete form of the amethyst orb.
Her future self, 10 years later, took out and used the crystal orb in front of the tree before her eyes right now. In other words, this meant that the shattered amethyst orb fragments didn’t need to be fixed to become the crystal orb.
‘What you see isn’t everything.’
Lorencia looked up at the tree. Compared to the tree surrounded by miasma 10 years later, the miasma enveloping the tree now was on the weaker side.
“Ter. As the child of the Goddess Ella, I will purify the miasma.”
“As the serpent, I have a duty to protect the child of the Goddess Ella. So I will accompany you.”
Lorencia reached out her hand to Teishar. As the two held hands and took a step forward, the surrounding grass and flowers began to create a path for them to walk ahead.
As they reached the tree, Teishar couldn’t help but furrow his brows at the intense miasma.
“Roa. The miasma is terrible.”
“It’s okay. From now on, I will protect Ter from the miasma.”
Teishar could only watch Lorencia’s back as she moved forward. As Lorencia’s amethyst necklace began to glow, she smiled and grasped the necklace.
The power shining from the necklace now was not the amethyst necklace. It was her own power.
“The crystal orb is just a medium that allows me to use my power.”
As they approached the tree, warmth could be felt from the necklace she held in her hand. Letting go of the necklace, Lorencia looked at the spherical ball of light gathered in her hand.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
