When Ruans stepped down from the emperor’s throne, exchanges between the Isuter Empire and the Polroid Empire began to flow smoothly again.
Ruans had raised prices and taxes excessively to prepare for war, incurring the resentment of nobles and imperial citizens. Adolf became emperor again and stabilized prices.
When it was revealed that it was Ruans and his maternal grandfather Daniel who tried to kill Adrian and the imperial couple, people were outraged. Of course, this fact was also conveyed to the people of the Polroid Empire.
“Have you heard that Princess Charlotte is going back to Crown Prince Adrian?”
“That’s a good thing.”
“But Duke Daniel fled with his daughter and a warrant has been issued.”
“There are rumors that he’s gathering private soldiers to start a rebellion.”
“If the rebellion succeeds, I suppose peace between the two empires will be broken again?”
“That’s why Her Majesty the Queen has decided to help capture Duke Daniel.”
“It’s only a matter of time before he’s caught.”
People who recalled the worst situation when the peace treaty between the two empires was broken during Ruans’ reign as emperor shook their heads.
“That’s why Her Majesty the Queen declared that she would catch Duke Daniel who fled together with the Isuter Empire.”
“I hope he’s caught soon. I’m so anxious.”
People gathered to say they hoped Daniel would be caught soon and wondered when Ruans’ execution would take place. But there was a topic that people paid more attention to and talked about.
“Look over there. It’s Viscount Teishar and Princess Lorencia.”
“But do you know what, everyone?”
“What?”
“I heard that the reason Viscount Teishar handed over the position of head of the family to Master Magus was to increase the time he could spend with his fiancée.”
After becoming a viscount, Teishar received a lot of attention from people in the Polroid Empire’s social circles. The reason was his smile. The man who always had an expressionless face and was indifferent to everything was often seen smiling constantly while looking at his fiancée Lorencia.
“If Lorencia was my fiancée, I’d be smiling like that all day too, sticking by her side.”
“If it weren’t for Viscount Teishar, I would have made her my daughter-in-law.”
“So Viscount Teishar wasn’t uninterested in women, he just had high standards.”
“Since Princess Charlotte is going back to the Isuter Empire… Lorencia will become the flower of the Polroid Empire’s social circles in her place.”
Lorencia, who appeared in the Polroid Empire, solidified her position in social circles with the title of the Di Glosston ducal family and Charlotte’s support.
“I think so too. Above all, it’s visible that Princess Charlotte is supporting her as the next flower of the social circles.”
“But is she really Lord Cain’s daughter? We don’t even know where she came from.”
Her status as a princess and beautiful appearance attracted people’s attention, but it also brought jealousy.
“The Di Glosston family is not just anyone… They must have thoroughly checked and accepted her as Lord Cain’s real daughter.”
“Have you heard the rumors that she lived like a slave in the Isuter Empire?”
“Watch your words. If you speak carelessly about Princess Lorencia, the Di Glosston ducal family and the Spencer family won’t stay quiet. Haven’t you heard about Lady Stella recently? One wrong word and your family could be exterminated. So it’s better for everyone not to talk about the princess.”
If anyone were to utter slander about Lorencia, the Di Glosston family and the Spencer family would not stay silent.
Teishar and Lorencia, who appeared at the banquet hall, attracted everyone’s attention with their strikingly beautiful appearance. The two began to dance, creating elegant curves in unison with the music that matched each other.
They dominated the banquet hall stage, enjoying a heavy couple dance that seemed to rely on and support each other.
Lorencia smiled as she gazed into Teishar’s red eyes, and his red eyes, fallen in love, shone with a gentle and warm light.
“Loa. Are you enjoying the banquet?”
“I’m enjoying it.”
“I’m glad you’re enjoying it.”
Teishar had recently put pressure on the baronial family to which Lady Stella, who had been spreading bad rumors about Lorencia, belonged and sent them far away from the Polroid Empire.
Teishar escorted Lorencia, greeting people and engaging in conversations. Her pure yet elegant violet eyes and rich, glossy red hair were enough to captivate people.
When Lorencia first entered social circles, she was nervous, but thanks to Charlotte who guided her well as a newcomer to social circles, Abrelina and Mary who had wide connections, and Teishar who always stood firmly by her side, she mingled with people without feeling nervous.
“Hello, Princess Di Glosston. I’m Ania from the Berenia County family.”
“Nice to meet you, Countess Ania. I’m Lorencia.”
Lorencia greeted her, recalling the information that the Count of Berenia was a woman named Ania. And she remembered Charlotte’s words that Ania’s hobby was collecting beautiful things.
“Thank you for accepting my greeting, Princess.”
Ania was a beautiful woman with a pure face, beige eyes, and light green hair neatly styled up like fresh spring tree leaves. Her face looked much younger than her age.
“Not at all. Thank you for coming to greet me first.”
Ania approached Lorencia closely with slightly flushed cheeks.
“You really have a beautiful face.”
Ania stared intently at Lorencia with wide eyes and her mouth agape in wonder. Lorencia was inwardly shocked to see Ania’s pitch-black mouth interior, but she didn’t show it.
‘That mouth interior…’
The pitch-black mouth and tongue reminded her of Daniel.
“Thank you.”
Lorencia hid her surprised feelings and smiled brightly at Ania.
“The beauty of the Great Saint Saraph was excellent, but you, Princess, possess a beauty incomparable to the Great Saint. Hoho. I apologize if I’ve offended you. It’s just that I love beautiful faces.”
At the mention of the Great Saint, the smile slightly faded from Lorencia’s face.
“That’s why I even made quite a large donation to see the beautiful face of Great Saint Saraph, who is now rumored to be a witch.”
Ania said as she moved closer to Lorencia.
“As it happens, someone I like asked me to deliver a letter to Princess Lorencia.”
“Someone you like?”
“They’re from the Isuter Empire, with a captivating aura and beautiful platinum blonde hair and mysterious green eyes. They’re staying at our mansion for a while due to some unfortunate events in the Isuter Empire.”
“I see.”
Lorencia felt like she shouldn’t be hearing this. But Ania continued without stopping.
“Would you visit our mansion sometime when you’re free?”
“Please send a tea party invitation to the Di Glosston mansion.”
“Thank you. I’ll send a tea party invitation soon.”
Lorencia watched as Ania disappeared.
“Loa. Countess Ania is a well-known devotee of the Ella Goddess Temple.”
“Yes. But I’m more concerned about the guest from the Isuter Empire staying at the Berenia Count’s mansion, Ter.”
“I am too. Are you thinking of going when you receive Countess Ania’s tea party invitation? It seems like there’s some kind of scheme. And above all, that pitch-black mouth interior is just like…”
“Countess Ania told me that her mouth interior turned pitch-black due to poison.”
Daniel had said the same thing, that his mouth interior had turned pitch-black because he was poisoned.
“Whether I choose to enter the snake’s mouth knowing it, or hunt the snake from afar as it opens its mouth, will be my decision.”
“I’ll follow whatever choice Loa makes.”
Lorencia and Teishar entered the lounge for a moment. Lorencia summoned an amethyst bead. It was to check what would happen when she visited Ania’s mansion. But nothing was visible in the amethyst bead.
Lorencia tilted her head.
“What’s wrong, Loa?”
“I can’t see anything.”
So she looked into the amethyst bead to check the future of other people.
“I can see the future of other people… but Countess Ania doesn’t appear. Just like Duke Daniel.”
“Then Countess Ania might be someone who has contracted with the white snake.”
“Yes. That pitch-black mouth interior is exactly the same as Duke Daniel’s.”
Lorencia nodded at Teishar’s words. In the past, she had tried to see Daniel’s future, but his future was not visible. So she thought it was strange. But it wasn’t strange.
Daniel, as a person contracted with the white snake Saraph, was subordinate to Saraph, so his future was not visible.
The fairy queen Titania had also said not to be anxious about what cannot be seen.
Lorencia, who had dispelled the summoning of the amethyst bead, let out a small sigh.
“What’s certain is that the guest from the Isuter Empire at Countess Ania’s mansion wants to meet me, so they invited me to the mansion.”
“It seems dangerous.”
“I feel the same way. I don’t have a good feeling about this.”
“Loa. Are you thinking of going to Countess Ania’s tea party?”
“Yes. It’s better to go knowing it’s a trap than going without knowing. We can prepare for a lot if we know.”
“Then let’s prepare together.”
A few days later, a tea party invitation arrived from Countess Ania. Teishar first checked whether Countess Ania’s tea party invitation was sent to Lorencia alone.
Ania confirmed that not only Lorencia but also others were invited to her tea party.
“Loa. I think it would be better to decline her tea party invitation.”
“It might be better to decline. But if Countess Ania is really someone subordinate to the white snake Saraph, she won’t give up on me, a child of the Ella Goddess.”
He had heard that Ania was a fanatic of the Ella Goddess Temple. If so, she might commit terrible acts to offer him, a child of the Ella Goddess, to the white snake Saraph.
“It seems too dangerous.”
“We know better than anyone that the enemies we’re dealing with are dangerous beings. We can’t back down. Isn’t it better to hunt the snake by walking into its open mouth and slashing it from the inside, rather than hunting it from afar as it opens its mouth?”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
