Marquess Geminia leisurely looked around, having made every possible preparation for this very day.

He had sold off several mines and even land to raise funds, and several nobles allied with Marquess Geminia had even taken on debts. Though this was an extremely critical venture that absolutely had to succeed, the atmosphere already felt like victory was assured.

The marquess glanced dismissively at a few newly wealthy merchants who had just entered the auction hall. No matter how lavishly dressed in wealth these upstarts might be, without unity they were nothing more than a disorganized rabble.

“But it’s strange. I don’t see ‘Wenley’ anywhere.”

“I’d have thought they’d certainly show up for an auction this significant…”

Marquess Geminia suddenly realized something and scanned the hall once more. The auction was about to begin any moment, yet he saw no one who appeared to represent ‘Wenley.’ Could they have sent an agent instead?

The auction hall’s entrance grew noisy with women’s grumbling.

“Gabrielle, I told you to go to bed early today, auction or not!”
