The moment Ilyd stepped into the banquet hall where the investiture ceremony was to be held, a commotion of raised voices reached her ears. She tilted her head slightly in confusion and scanned the atmosphere inside the hall.

“Has something gone wrong?”

“I’ll go check.”

“…No, that won’t be necessary.”

Ilyd stopped Lynette, who stood beside her. Toward the source of the disturbance, she saw servants and Celina. Clearly, the servants were flustered, desperately trying to calm her down.

Inside the hall, Ilyd locked eyes with Celina. Even across the distance, she could feel Celina’s emerald eyes trembling violently.

“Your Imperial Majesty the Empress!”

It was far from a pleasant tone. Anyone could hear the distorted, grating voice—thoroughly twisted by ill temper—cutting across the banquet hall.

Though she had expected everyone to be in high spirits, Ilyd now had to suppress her own surprise in the face of this unexpected fury.

“What’s the matter, Miss Celina? Please calm down and explain.”

“How could you do this to me? Was it not enough that you drenched me in muddy water yesterday?”

Celina clutched her ceremonial gown’s hem tightly, paying no heed whether it wrinkled or tore. Her fists, clenched with tension, trembled violently, ruthlessly creasing the pristine white fabric.

“Even if you detest me… how could you remove the coronet meant for my investiture and hide it elsewhere!”

As soon as she finished speaking, large tears spilled from Celina’s eyes. The murmurs among the nearby nobles sank even lower, scraping the floor with hushed whispers.

“Your Imperial Majesty? Impossible. She’s far too benevolent.”
