“There’s a charity event in a few days. Since so many people will be attending—a first, really—there’s much to prepare. By the way…”

Mariella began seasoning her words. Lowering her voice subtly, she turned toward her husband.

The Duke didn’t move much, but in the darkness, she could clearly sense his ears perking up attentively.
