How should this scene be interpreted?

Returning with the medicine bottle, Linet paused to survey the scene before her. Fortunately, no one was around, and Rebel’s ability to blend into the surroundings was impressively effective.

Even when Linet returned, it took her a moment to locate them. Was this some unique talent, or perhaps magic like that used by people from the Eastern Continent?

Illyad, half-leaning into Rebel’s embrace, seemed to be asleep, breathing rhythmically. As Linet cautiously approached, Rebel sensed her and turned his head.

“Ah…”

Before Linet could react, Rebel put his index finger to his lips, signaling for silence.

It was a tricky situation. The Empress was asleep in the arms of a stranger.

Waking the deeply sleeping Empress or asking Rebel to leave was equally awkward. Luckily, the absence of onlookers was fortunate.

Eventually, Illyad woke up. It was a light nap, without dreams. Holding onto the fragments of her brief but sweet sleep, she slowly blinked.

“Where am I…”

“Empress, are you feeling better now?”

Linet hurried over as soon as she noticed Illyad’s awakening. As Illyad fumbled with her hands, she sensed something.

“…”

The moment Illyad raised her head, she met Rebel’s eyes. His calm gaze was hard to read.

“Has your headache improved?”

His low, non-rising question made Illyad realize she had remained in Rebel’s embrace.

And her wandering hand had even reached his chest.

“Oh, this is… I’m sorry. It was a mistake…”

Embarrassed and stammering, Illyad hadn’t felt this way in years. She had always meticulously concealed her emotions and actions.

But to display such a lapse in front of this mercenary she needed to win over was unexpected. Illyad wished she could hide away instantly.

It seemed like he might have smiled. To hide her flushed face, she quickly stood up, trying to manage the situation.

“I’m glad you’re feeling better.”

Rebel stood up with her, bowing his head. Illyad covered her face with her hand to hide her embarrassment, but her red ears were still visible.

“Thank you for your help. Then…”

Illyad trailed off and left hastily. Her unusual pace made Linet follow her quickly.

Rebel’s longing gaze followed her departing figure, unnoticed by them.

What was she thinking on her way back to the Empress’s Palace? She might need a fan and an ice pack more than headache medicine now.

“Take this medicine first.”

“I’m much better now. I’m sorry for showing you my worst side.”

“It happens to everyone. We can’t always be strong and perfect. Sometimes we stumble and fall.”

Linet reluctantly handed Illyad the headache medicine and a glass of water. The pill was to prevent possible recurrence of pain. As Illyad swallowed the medicine, Linet added,

“The regular medical check-up is due soon, so I postponed the doctor’s visit to another day.”

“Thank you. But what happened? Why was that mercenary by my side…”

“You couldn’t be left alone, so as I hesitated, the mercenary appeared.”

Male lead is a clingy little husband

One-line summary: The male lead is initially an arrogant, noble, love-deprived brat, later a cute, clingy, scheming little jealous one.

Introduction:

One day, Lu Yuner’s soul transmigrates into a female-dominant world. She enters the Imperial Academy and takes up the position of a doctoral instructor, teaching classes and grading schoolwork.

One day, she encounters the young prince Su Qingwan secretly skipping class from the male academy.

As a result, Su Qingwan is punished.

From then on, Su Qingwan sees Lu Yuner as a “thorn in his side”.

But before long, this “thorn” becomes the person he cherishes most, and he goes to great lengths to win Lu Yuner’s affection.

Mini scene 1:

One day, the sun is high in the sky but Su Qingwan still hasn’t gotten up for class.

Servant Xiaoyuan: “Young prince, it’s time for class. You’ll be late otherwise.”

Su Qingwan says arrogantly: “I’m not going. I am the esteemed prince, my status is so noble, why should I suffer this hardship? Besides, isn’t learning all this just to please women? Hmph, they’re not worthy!”

Mini scene 2:

After Su Qingwan falls for someone, he completely changes. He no longer skips class and diligently learns how to be a good husband and father. But he discovers that Sister Yuner is always surrounded by admirers.

Drunk and overcome with jealousy one day, he clings to Lu Yuner, crying beautifully like a pear blossom in the rain.

Su Qingwan: “Qingwan likes Sister Yuner.”

Lu Yuner: “Young prince, you’re drunk.”

Su Qingwan: “Qingwan isn’t drunk. Qingwan likes Sister Yuner, likes you so much, likes you to bits…” Before he can finish, Lu Yuner’s eyes flash with emotion and she leans in closer.

[Reading Guide]

1. The female lead is gentle, gracious, humble and polite but not weak. The male lead is initially an arrogant, noble, love-deprived brat, later a cute, clingy, scheming little jealous one.

2. 1v1, a bit torturous in the beginning but definitely sweet later on.
